HEADS UP, TRAVELERS!
The Philippine Airlines urged travelers to arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at least three hours before their domestic flights or at least four hours before their international flights due to heavy traffic congestion at the NAIAX Skyway exit ramps.
"The NAIAX Skyway has implemented a new toll booth set-up at the Skyway exits. Please allocate extra time in going to the airport to ensure that you will make it in time for your flight," Philippine Airlines said in an advisory on Thursday.

For some visitors, itโs the food that draws them to this city. For others, itโs the vibrant spirit that is being showcased in the world-class Dinagyang Festival. Or it can also be the cityโs rich cultural heritage.
For tourists who have traveled to Iloilo City, the place transcends its delicious La Paz batchoy or its pancit Molo, for which the city is known.
The charm of Iloilo City also goes beyond its century-old churches and heritage houses.
Located in the Visayas, the city is deemed as the center of business investment destination in the south.
Best of all, itโs the warm hospitality of the Ilonggos and their being malambing that attract tourists to the city.
These Ilonggo traits impressed the participants of the Very Important Pinoy (VIP) Tour 2023, a tour package collaboration of the departments of tourism and foreign affairs.
Headed by Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer, the tour has 294 participants, mostly Filipinos based in the United States.
Around 120, the largest delegation, came from Hawaii, and 94 from San Francisco.
Now on its 14th year, the VIP Tour 2023 also targeted the youth. It was the first time that Iloilo was included in the itinerary.
Alejandra Clemente of Rajah Tours Philippines said they made some adjustments in the tour package to accommodate the millennials. The company facilitated the tour.
Teenagers Justine and Aubrey, both from San Francisco, can hardly contain their excitement.
Aside from Iloilo City, the tourists were brought to other areas of Iloilo province.
Miag-ao was among the places lined up in the tourโs Iloilo leg. The visitors were shown the traditional Budbud saltmaking industry in Miagao and toured the Islas de Gigantes in Carles town.
For Aubrey, the Islas de Gigantes trip was one of the exciting places she had visited. The millennials said the trip was a good opportunity to bond with their grandparents.
Ron Morrison, mayor of National City in California, was one of the more than 20 Americans who joined the tour.
โWeโre very impressed with Iloilo City. The people here are very gracious. Itโs obvious that thereโs a lot going on in Iloilo City,โ Morrison said, adding it was his sixth time to join the VIP tour.
Clemente thanked Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treรฑas for his cooperation, which persuaded the tour facilitators to include Iloilo in the package.
Around 400 Filipino-Canadians will join the next VIP Tour to Iloilo in February 2024. | via Philstar

Good news!๐จ๐ฟ
Canada is pleased to announce the addition of the Philippines to the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) program.
Citizens from the Philippines who have either held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years or who currently hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa can now apply for an eTA, instead of a visa, when travelling to Canada by air.
MEDIA RELEASE
Eligible citizens from the Philippines now qualify for visa-free travel to Canada
Canada values our relationship with the Philippines. With the well-established Filipino diaspora in Canada, along with an increasing number of students and tourists from the Philippines, we recognize the importance of expanding and simplifying travel between our countries.
Introducing visa-free air travel will make it faster, easier and more affordable for thousands of known travellers from the Philippines to visit Canada for up to 6 months for either business or leisure. It will also help facilitate more travel, tourism and international business between our countries, and help strengthen people-to-people and cultural ties.
This decision complements our existing mobility measures for the Philippines, like the countryโs membership in Canadaโs Transit Without Visa program, which allows eligible Filipino nationals to fly through Canada on their way to or from the US without a Canadian visa, as well as the Student Direct Stream, which offers expedited study permit processing to those who are applying to study in Canada.
This initiative will also support Canadaโs Indo-Pacific Strategy, which aims to strengthen relations and invest in people-to-people ties between Canada and the Indo-Pacific region, including the Philippines.
Individuals who already have a valid visa can continue to use it to travel to Canada. Those who are not eligible for an eTA, or who are travelling to Canada by means other than air (for example, by car, bus, train and boatโincluding by cruise ship), will still need a visitor visa.
Travellers can visit Canada.ca/etA to find out if they are eligible for an eTA and how to apply for one.
Quotes:
โThis exciting development means that more individuals from the Philippines can now embark on unforgettable adventures, explore our diverse landscapes, reunite with family and friends, and immerse themselves in our vibrant culture without the hurdle of visa requirements. This expansion not only enhances convenience for travellers; it will also increase travel, tourism and economic benefits, as well as strengthen our bond with the Philippines.โ
โ The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
โCanada is a destination of choice for so many around the world. Weโre making it easier for more people to visit Canada, whether theyโre coming to do business, sightsee, or reunite with family and friends. Expanding the eTA program to include countries like the Philippines is also an important part of our Indo-Pacific Strategy, as we look to further engage in the region, build on people-to-people ties, and make travel to Canada easier, faster and safer for everyone.โ
โ The Honourable Mรฉlanie Joly, Minister of Global Affairs
Quick facts:
โข The eTA is a digital travel document that most visa-exempt travellers need to travel to or transit through Canada by air.
โข The eTA application is used by Canadian officials to conduct light-touch, pre-travel screening of air travellers. It costs CAN$7 to apply, and most applications are automatically approved within minutes.
โข To apply for an eTA, travellers need only a valid passport, a credit card, an email address and access to the Internet.
โข The Philippines is one of the 13 additional countries whose eligible citizens may now benefit from visa-free travel.
โข Over the last 10 years, Canada issued 466,936 temporary resident visas to citizens from the Philippines. These individuals, along with current US non-immigrant visa holders, may now be eligible for visa-free travel.
