The Chocolate Hills (Cebuano: Mga Bungtod sa Tsokolate, Filipino: Mga Tsokolateng Burol) are a geological formation in the Bohol province of the Philippines. There are at least 1,260 hills, but there may be as many as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometers (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name.

The Chocolate Hills are a famous tourist attraction in Bohol. They are featured in the provincial flag and seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions in the province. They are in the Philippine Tourism Authority's list of tourist destinations in the Philippines; they have been declared the country's third National Geological Monument and proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

TRAFFIC LESSON FOR TODAY

What do I do when encountering an onramp on the freeway?

We get traffic complaints from people saying drivers on the freeway don't yield to them when they are entering from an onramp and we frequently have to correct this misunderstanding of the law. So how does this work?

The RED car is entering a freeway from a side street. If you are driving that RED car, you have the following responsibilities;

1. Use the long onramp and acceleration lane to ACCELERATE to freeway speeds. If you try to enter the freeway at much slower speeds, you will do nothing but cause a problem.
2. USE your left turn signal. Remember, a signal doesn't automatically give you the right to change lanes. You have to do so safely. DO NOT cut across all lanes to the left lane.
3. You do NOT have the right of way. Plan accordingly and begin making your plan as you start onto the ramp, not when you reach the end.
4. If you still run out of space and haven't merged, pull over to the shoulder and wait for traffic to clear, then speed up on the shoulder and merge. DO NOT try to force your way on the freeway. (if you follow #3 and plan ahead, this won't happen)

The GREEN car is already on the freeway, driving in the #2 lane. If you are driving the GREEN car, you have the following responsibilities;

1. MAINTAIN your speed so the red car can plan for you.
2. You may change lanes to the #1 lane if safe to avoid the situation or you may slow down to allow the red car to merge in front of you.

If you are in the #1 lane, DO NOT change lanes into the #2 while vehicles are merging. Wait until they have merged, then you may change lanes for a future exit.

Courtesy is underrated and infrequent. We could use a bit more of it out there.

Location
The Camotes Island Group (Camotes Islands) are located in Cebu Province in the Central Visayas (Region VII) of the Philippines. Includes four islands: Pacijan Island, Poro Island, Ponson Island and Tulang Island (Tulang Diot). The four islands have a combined area of 146.87 miles / 236.36km. The islands are located between Cebu to the west and Leyte to the east. To the northeast is Ormoc Bay. Borders the Camotes Sea to the south.

Wartime History
During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, the local population of the Camotes Islands were terrorized with roughly 300 killed or tortured. On December 3, 1944 during the Battle of Ormoc Bay, the Camotes Islands were nearby the battle area and some survivors swam to the Camotes Islands where they were rescued. On January 15, 1945 began the Battle of Camotes Islands when the U. S. Army landed a battalion from the 7th Infantry on Ponson Island with four PT Boats supporting the amphibious landing. Ashore, they found the Japanese had withdrawn from the island.

Poro Island
Poro Island is located at the center of the Camotes Islands. On January 18, 1945 during the Battle of Camotes Islands the same force from the U. S. Army landed on Poro Island and the next day encountered enemy fire. On January 23, 1945 engaged positions on Hill 854. On January 31, 1945 the defenders were defeated and the American force returned to Leyte and transfered control of the island to the Philippine Army 94th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion.

Takahashi and Camotes Detachment, composed of the 5th Infantry Regiment of the 8th Division, an artillery battalion, a company of engineers, a transportation company, and a Special Naval Landing Force of 400 men with four light tanks and sixteen trench mortars. were active in the Camotes Islands off the west coast of Leyte. This detachment was composed of one battalion (less two companies) of the 58th Independent Mixed Brigade, an artillery battery, and an engineering platoon.

The Sardines Run In Moalboal Cebu

The Sardine Run is located just off the shore of Moalboal on Cebu Island. The sardines usually gather around Panagsama Beach, just in front of Savedra Dive Centre, making it easily accessible to tourists. They hover just 30 meters off the coast, so it's a very easy swim.

The Archdiocese of Cebu has been notified that the Theological Commission of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in the Vatican gave a unanimous affirmative vote (9 out of 9) to the heroic virtues of the Servant of God, Archbishop Teofilo Camomot.

With this favorable outcome, the Cause of Beatification and Canonization of Bishop Camomot will be forwarded for further examination to the Commission of Bishops and Cardinals of the said Congregation. Upon completion of their study, the cause will be presented to the Holy Father for his approval. Then Bishop Camomot will be considered "Venerable." Diving enthusiast Sherryl Muli shares a video of a Thresher shark she bumped into while exploring the waters of Malapascua Island in northern Cebu.

The most famous dive site in Malapascua Island is MONAD SHOAL. This is an underwater plateau where divers can see the pellagic thresher sharks and manta rays face-to-face. Thresher sharks can be seen in the morning, around 5am – 7am, while manta rays can be seen in the afternoon, usually around 2pm-4pm.

Escape and breathe the air of new places. Come and dive Malapascua and explore the biosphere under the sea.
