"How is being a travel consultant even a job?" - From one site visitor
----> Basically, I'm a friend you can ask about travels, travel arrangements, and customized/crafted tours. In my case, you can ask me about the 7 countries I specialize - Australia, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Meaning, I have significant contacts in the travel industry in these countries that may help you when traveling in a group.
Iâm really passionate about what I do. Not only that I have traveled in those places and experience the services of my travel partners, I was also able to operate arranged group tours. From visa application, to managing payments/accounts, filing documents, creating programs, researching universities, contacting key persons, booking flights, choosing hotels, arranging hotel rooms, choosing buses, choosing an appropriate tour guide, contacting seminar venues, layouting IDâs and merch, orienting about doâs and donâts, following up each guest, updating clients, updating organizers, organizing and distributing kits, airport check-in, baggage allotment, meals planning, bargain hunting, souvenir shopping, what to eat, what to do, what to wear, documenting photos, photographing ootdâs, editing pictures, weighing bags, exchanging currencies, lost and found... I attend to pretty much everything that my client needs as a Tour Coordinator/ Travel Coordinator! These are the things that a mere Travel Agent and a mere Tour Guide misses out. Iâm very keen about arranging the itinerary, choosing and coordinating service providers, and attending to the concerns of my guests 24/7. Indeed, itâs quite a tedious task arranging 4-8 days of travel for a big group of 30-40 persons per trip, but for me IT REALLY SPARKS JOY.
So as a Travel Consultant, thereâs pretty much like 3 perspectives I can give you: insight as a traveler, a tour operator, and an event organizer. You donât have to worry because Iâm not going to sell you anything, like what usual travel agents do. I will listen to your needs and tell you which services will render useful. Thereâs no right or wrong inquiry, it really depends on your preference.
Sure, you can research anything on the internet. But nothing beats first-hand information from someone who's willing to share them to you personally.
