Davao City was recognized as one of the most bike-friendly cities in Mindanao with Silver Rank for this year's Mobility Awards, which recognizes efforts of leadership in promoting a more conducive urban space for cyclists amid the pandemic.

The city highlighted its newly inaugurated 54.744-kilometer Bicycle Lane Network that spans across 14 sections within the city and are ensured to be protected through concrete delineators, equipped with solar studs, bike racks, and even features different signages and markings as visual reminders that the space is for cyclists.

Meanwhile, Davao City will receive a Silver Bicycle-Friendly Recognition Sign, a certification designating the ranking, and gift certificates worth Php8,000 for the city members.

In a Facebook Livestream of the Mobility Awards for the National Bicycle Month today, November 25, 2021, the organizers of the event said that they have received a total of 179 nominations nationwide.

Aside from Davao City, Gingoog City was also recognized as the Most Bike-Friendly City in Mindanao with Bronze Rank.

For the Bicycle-Friendly Large Commercial Establishments in Mindanao, winners are SM Lanang Premier Davao (Silver Award), Robinsons's Place Butuan (Silver Award), and Ayala Malls Abreeza Davao (Silver Award).

For the Bicycle-Friendly Stand-Alone Commercial Establishments in Mindanao, the winners are Tourney Biker Shoo (Bronze Award), Cyclelogy Bikeshop (Bronze Award), and Natoy’s Best Bibingka Kakanin Store in Davao City (Bronze Award).

Organizers of the said event are the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, the Climate Reality Project Philippines, 350 Pilipinas, MNL Moves, and Pinay Bike Commuter.

DAVAO CITY COASTAL ROAD

Target Overall Completion: 2022

Overall, the coastal road will be at 18.5 km stretch. The photos below shows the progress of Segments A & B of the project. Once completed, it will drastically, it will ease the traffic build up from south to north portion of the city.
