Storm Surge in Tawi-Tawi last October 19, 2017

In the night of October 19, 2017, a storm surge induced by the combined effects of an LPA and TS damaging over 160 houses in Barangays Lamion, Tubig Tanah, and Simandagit of MunicipalityOf Bongao in Tawi-Tawi.
Although no typhoon has ever traversed the province due to low probability of the coriolis effect in lower latitudes, effects of nearby cyclones can still trigger storm surges. Thus it is important that such locations are properly mapped for proactive approach in disasters. has mapped many areas in Bongao last May 2017 to which data can be used by LGUs for disaster preparedness.
