Pakistan's Baltit Fort Information:
The Baltit Fort is located near Karimabad, which was formerly the state capital of Hunza and is currently the Tehsil Capital of the District of Gilgit. The Karakuram Highway connects Gilgit, the Pakistani province's capital, to it. In front of the Ulter Glacier, on a spur that has been levelled artificially, is the Baltit Fort. Their residents were in charge of the seasonal trans-Karakuram trade between South and Central Asia due to their strategic location with a commanding view of the Hunza Valley and its Tributaries. The Baltit Fort has three levels and a rectangular floor plan. It is perched atop a tall stone plinth. While the first floor is designed around an open hall, the lower floor mostly consists of storage compartments. The second level and eventually a third level were added to the complex to make room for future growth. Built in a region with regular seismic activity, the building's stone walls were given a traditional internal framework made of wood for increased stability.
