SOME TIPS THAT WOULD COME IN HANDY FOR UMRAH

BEFORE LEAVING FOR UMRAH
-Start walking daily for long distances so that you build a stamina and don't struggle there with cramps.
-Learn how to perform Umrah and the dos and don't before going for Umrah.
-If you take the economy package and have a sharing room make sure all males and females have their individual luggage and don't have to go to each others rooms for things as it could disturb the other roommates.
-Hotels have specific check-in times so be prepared to wait incase you arrive early.
-Check how many kgs is allowed and how many pieces as it varies from airline to airline.
-Keep extra sports bags in your luggage Incase you require it as its expensive to buy from there.
-Incase you are buying new shoes for the trip wear them for a couple of days before traveling to make sure they are comfortable.
-Do not over pack nor under pack.Keep 1 dress for each day to avoid hassle of washing dirty clothes.
-Keep an extra pair of slippers just incase.
-Carry an umbrella in summer to shield against the scorching sun during the day.
-Carry fragrance free toiletries to be used in Ihraam.
-Take your snacks along from here as some people find it expensive there.
-Carry a portable weighing scale for luggage.

FOOD
-Carrying food tin packed from home is not a very good idea as many hotels don't have a home food heating facility nor microwaves and heating it becomes a hassle.

DRESSING
-Do not wear extra long abayas as it becomes difficult to walk in them when it's crowded.
-Loose,extra long bottoms under the abaya are difficult to manage in the toilet wear tighter ones and wear socks to cover the ankles.
-Abaya sleeves need to be loose enough to roll up incase one needs to do abulation.
-Do not wear very small scarves as sometimes the neck gets exposed without one realising it.
-Women should be very careful if they wear light coloured clothes as they tend to become transparent in the sun and bright lights.
-Leather socks can be used for comfort.

SHOPPING
-Dates and chocolates can be purchased from souq al kakia in Makkah which is a whole sale market incase your not visiting Madinah.
-Dates and gifts can be purchased from Madinah as shopping is more economical there.

DO'S AND DONT'S
-Take care of your belongings in sharing rooms.
-Be aware of theives In the masjid as well.
-Do not give money to people asking for charity they are cons.
-Glass bangles should be avoided as they break in the the rush and people end up getting hurt.
-Always decide a point where to meet incase you get lost as it gets very crowded.
-Avoid chilled drinks as many people fall sick due to consuming chilled drinks in high ac rooms.
-Do not throw around date pits it is extremely painful if one ends up stepping on them.
-Have a small backpack with essentials with you at all times.
-There are machines in haram that print out wrist bands with your name and number incase of emergencies always wear them and make sure everyone else wears them too.
-Whenever you struggle communicating in Saudi go to Google translate from Urdu/English to Arabic it will be a life saver.
-Travel prayer mats can come in handy.
-Praying mats with back support would be handy for people who plan on spending more time in the masjid.
-You will find free clinics Incase someone falls sick.
-Download offline maps of Makkah and Madinah and pin point important places including the hotel.
-Google translate has an option of type,talk (voice command) or use photo.These can be very handy.
-The hotels visiting card could come in handy if one cannot find the hotel on their way from Haram.
