A beautiful view of the mustard fields is located on a farm on the outskirts of Lahore. Our student chapters discovered it during their last Karvan trip.

Fun Fact: Mustard plant is grown in almost all the provinces of Pakistan but is more dominantly found in Attock, Rawalpindi, Jehlum, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh.

Rizq Karvan: Exploring our Food Ecosystems

Rizq team organized a field trip for all the youth chapters to visit a nearby farm to witness the process of farming, understand the amount of effort that a farmer invests in the food we consume, and in the process connect with our nature.

CoFounder, Musa Aamir started with an ice-breaking session and a self-reflection activity. This was followed by a session by Co-Founder, Qasim who led the visit to the fields and explained the steps and techniques of farming.

To make the experience memorable, the entire team took part in the sowing of wheat and strawberry seeds with the help of the local farmers.

The day was concluded by a wholesome lunch made with local freshly grown vegetables and natural butter.

The trip was a reminder for the entire Rizq family that to solve the problem of food wastage, we need to start at the root of the problem. The youth needs to stay connected to food ecosystems from the farms to the end of the supply chain.

The students were excited and are eager to know more about our farming ecosystems.

Our next step is to visit these fields again at the time of harvesting, so the team can see what they have grown.
