*Flood Relief Campaign*

Damage and destruction from more than six weeks of monsoon rains and flash floods are mounting across Pakistan, with 434 people dead, 605 seriously injured, and more than 29,067 homes inundated. About 24,420 cattle have been drowned, while countless families, women and children are living under the open sky. These people need our help. I want to go to Pakistan to take my last breath among my own blood relatives.

Preetam Khan lives alone in village P**t, Tehsil Samrala, District Ludhiana, India, At the time of partition in 1947, Preetam Khan was a 5 or 6 years old child when his village was attacked and there was chaos and unrest everywhere. People were trying to save their lives. His father Popo Khan and brother who were hiding in the fields managed to escape. The rest of the people were killed by the attackers. 5 years old Preetam Khan was with his mother, Rehmat Bibi also rushed towards fields to save their lives. But by that time, his husband and other children had managed to escape. In the meanwhile a mob headed towards Rehmat Bibi and her innocent son Preetam Khan. At that crucial point, Rehmat Bibi asked her son Preetam Khan to hide in the fields and she herself jumped into a nearby well. When the mob dispersed, little Preetam Khan went towards the well where his mother was holding the rope inside the well and asked "please come out, the mob has dispersed". Rehmat Bibi managed to come out of the well through that rope. She adopted the same procedure four four times to save their lives. But unfortunately, she could not come out of the well for the fifth time due to weakness of body as a result of hunger and lost her life. After the mob dispersed, Preetam Khan again went towards the well and called her mother but there was no response. He remained weeping in the fields for the next few days.

As the situation normalized, he went back to his village and narrated the sad story to Sikh families of his village. Those Sikh families hid for many days and afterwards, Preetman Khan engaged himself in the daily chores of the villages for the rest of his life. Now, that little Preetman Khan is an 80 years old man and lives alone in a hut outside the village. The villagers manage his meal thrice a day. Preetam Khan spent his whole life searching for his own blood relatives.

On the other side of the story, the ailing and agonized Popo Khan, the father of Preetam Khan who migrated to Chak 95 in Faisalabad died without seeing his son again in life. The brother of Preetam who is in Pakistan has also grown old waiting for his mother and brother Preetam Khan. Some months earlier, the nephew of Preetam Khan met me (Nasir Dhillon) and shared that they were in search of their lost grandmother and uncle during the 1947 partition. I uploaded a short video on social media. Afterwards, some members of Village P**t, Ludhiana, India contacted and informed me the whereabouts of Baba Jee (Preetam Khan) and managed contact with him. Baba Jee started calling on a regular basis by lending someone's mobile phone as he is not having his own mobile phone.

Baba Jee is in the last phase of his life, and requests both Indian and Pakistani governments that he wants to take his last breath of life in Pakistan among his brother and other blood relatives. Will we be able to fulfil his innocent and genuine desire?

We humbly request the High Commission of Delhi, India to issue a visa to Baba Preetam Khan for Pakistan to live his remaining days of life with his own family members.

ميں اپنوں ميں جاکر اپنی زندگی کی آ خری سانسيں لينا چاہتا ہوں

پريتم خاں جو گاؤں پوت تحصيل سمرالہ لُدھيانہ ميں تنہا رہتا ہے پارٹيشن کے وقت گاؤں پر حملہ ہُوا اور بھگدڑ مچ گئی لوگ اپنی جانيں بچا کر بھاگ نکلے جس ميں پريتم خاں کے والدپوپو خاں اور بھائی بھی جو کھيتوں ميں تھے گاؤں چھوڑ کر بھاگ گئے باقی جو گاؤں ميں بچے حملہ آوروں نے سب کو مار ديا پريتم کيونکہ صرف 5 سال کا تھا ماں کے ساتھ تھا ماں رحمت بی بی اپنی اور بچے کی جان بچانے خاطر اُسی طرف کھيتوں کی جانب چلی گئی ليکن وہاں سے اُ کا خاوند اور باقی بچے جان بچا کر بھاگ گۓ تھے اِسی دوران اک جتھا جو اس معصوم بچے اور ماں رحمت بی بی کی طرف آ رہا تھا تو رحمت بی بی نے پريتم کو پاس کھيت ميں چُھنے کا بولا اور خود کنوے ميں چھلانگ لگا دی جب حملہ آور واپس گئے تو پريتم ننھا بچہ اپنی ماں کو کُنوے کے پاس آ کر بولا وہ لوگ چلے گئے ہيں کُنوے سے باہر آ جاؤ رحمت بی بی کُنوے ميں موجود رسی کا سہارا لے کر کھڑی تھی اور بڑی مُشکل سے باہر آ گئی اور يہی جان بچانے کا طريقہ چار دفعہ آزمايا ليکن جب پانچوی دفعہ حملہ آور آۓ تو رحمت بی بی پھر کُنوے ميں چھلانگ لگا کر چلی گئی بھوکے پيٹ تھی تھکاوٹ تھی بی برحمت بی بی اس پانچويں کوشش ميں ناکام ہو گئی اور اور زندگی کی بازی ہار گئی جب حملہ آور واپس گئے تو پریتم خاں کُنوے کے پاس آ کر ماں کو آوازيں دينے لگا کہ ماں باہر آ جاؤ وہ چلے گئے ہيں ليکن اب کون آواز دے گا اس معصوم کو
پريتم روتارہا کُرلاتا رہا ليکن ماں کی کوئی آواز نا آئی پريتم خاں کافی دن کھيتوں ميں ہی
رہا جب کُچھ بعد حالات ٹھيک ہوۓ تو پريتم گاؤں واپس آيا اور اپنے گاؤں والے سکھ فيمليز کو ساری کہانی بتائی تو گاؤں والوں نے کافی دير پريتم کو چھُپا کر رکھا اور بعد از پريتم خاں ساری عُمر لوگوں کےچھوٹے موٹے کام کرتا رہا
اب پريتم کی عُمر 80 سال ہے اور بوڑھا ہو گيا ہے گاؤں کے باہر چھوٹی کُٹھيا ميں اکيلا رہتا ہے کام بھی نہيں کر سکتا گاؤں والے ہی کھانے پينے کے ليے مدد کر ديتے ہيں
ساری عُمر اپنوں کو ڈھونڈتے پريتم خاں نے گُزار دی
اب کہانی کی دوسری سائيڈ اسی کرب اور تکليف ميں ميں پريتم کے والد پوپو خاں جو فيصل آباد چک 95 ميں آ گۓ تھے وہ بھی اس دُنيا سے چلے گئے پريتم کے بھائی جو پاکستان ميں ہيں وہ بھی اپنے بھائی اور ماں کا انتظار کرتے کرتے بوڑھے ہو گئے اب کُچھ مہينے پہلے مُجھے (ناصر ڈھلوں ) پريتم خاں کے بھتيجے نے رابطہ کيا اور بتايا کے ہم اپنے بچھڑے ہوۓ چچا اور دادی کو ڈھونڈ رہے ہيں ميں نے اک مُختصر ويڈيو بنا کر شوشل ميڈيا پر اپلوڈ کر دی جس کے بعد گاؤں پوت اور آس پاس کے لوگوں کے رابطہ کيا اور بابا جی کا بتايا اور رابطہ کروا ديا اب روزانہ کسی نا کسی کو کہہ کر پريتم سے بات چيت کرتے ہيں کيونکہ بابا جی پريتم کے پاس موبائل فون بھی نا ہے
بابا جی اپنی زندگی آخری حصے پر ہيں اب دونوں اطراف کی حکومتوں سے دراخواست کرتے ہيں کے ميں اپنوں ميں جاکر مرنا چاہتا ہوں اپنوں ميں جا کر رہنا چاہتا ہوں
کيا ہم اُن کی يہ خواہش پوری کر پائيں گے ؟
