Dr Amjad Saqib, a Pakistani philanthropist and founder of the country’s largest interest-free microfinance programme Akhuwat, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in poverty alleviation.

As many as 343 candidates from around the world have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2022 – 251 individuals and 92 organisations.

“My services are beyond such awards and they are purely for the sake of Allah,” Akhuwat Foundation Chairman Dr Amjad told The Express Tribune.

Dr Amjad said no person can nominate himself for the Nobel Prize and there is no lobbying involved in the entire process.

“An official of a foreign country might have recommended my name for the award as people across the world are familiar with my services for humanity… but I am not aware of any such development,” he said while responding to a question that a minister of Malta recommended his name for the prestigious award.

مندر ٹومری صاحب

مندر ٹومری صاحب کا شمار پاکستان کے چند قدیم اور بڑے مندروں میں ہوتا ہے۔ روایتوں کے مطابق یہ مندر تقریبا 500 سال پرانا ہے۔ پاکستان کے صوبہ پنجاب کے ضلع گوجرانوالہ کے نواحی گاؤں بدوکی گوسائیاں میں واقع یہ مندر بابا راما نند کی یاد میں بنایا گیا ہے جو کہ ہندو مذہب میں بہت ہی نیک بزرگ مانے جاتے تھے۔ بابا جی کی پیدائش 1504 میں مندر سے 6 کلو میٹر دوری پر واقع گاؤں " ترگڑی" میں ہوئی تھی۔
ابھی جس جگہ مندر موجود ہے کسی دور میں یہ جنگل ہوا کرتا تھا اور چند ایک کھیت ہوا کرتے تھے۔ آپ یہاں اپنی گائے چرانے کے لئے آیا کرتے تھے اور انہوں نے یہی سے اپنے مذہب کی تبلیغ کا آغاز کیا تھا۔
کسی دور میں یہاں سے ایک نہر بھی گزرتی تھی جو کہ وقت کے ساتھ ساتھ ختم ہوتی گئی اور اب اس کے آثار بھی دیکھنے کو نہیں ملتے۔
ابھی جس جگہ مندر موجود ہے وہاں ایک تالاب ہوا کرتا تھا، اُسی تالاب کے عین وسط میں ایک چھوٹا سا مٹی کا ٹیلہ ہوتا تھا جس پر وہ اپنی سمادھی لگا کر بیٹھ جاتے تھے اور اپنے مذہب کی عبادت کیا کرتا تھے۔
چونکہ پنجابی زبان میں مٹی کے ٹیلہ کو "ٹبی" یا "ٹوبہ" کہا جاتا ہے اسی سے اسکا نام بگڑتے ہوئے "ٹومری" پڑ گیا اور اسی وجہ اس مندر کو " مندر ٹومری صاحب " کہا جانے لگا.
اس مندر کی موجودہ عمارت کو کشمیر کے وزیر اور ایمن آباد کے دیوان کرپا رام چند نے نے انیسوی صدی میں بنوایا تھا۔
اُس دور میں اس مندر پر ہر سال 14 بیساکھ کو بہت ہی عظیم عالیشان میلہ لگا کرتا تھا جس میں برصغیر کے نامور گلوکار دور دور سے شرکت کے لئے آیا کرتا تھے اور یہ میلہ سرکاری سرپرستی میں ہوا کرتا تھا اور اس دن عام تعطیل ہوا کرتی تھی۔
یہ میلہ آزادی کے بعد کافی دیر تک جاری رہا لیکن وقت کے ساتھ لوگوں کا رخ اس جانب کم ہوتا گیا اور یہ میلہ بلکل ختم ہو گیا۔
ابھی جس گاؤں میں مندر واقع ہے اس کا گاؤں کا نام بھی بابا رامانند اور ان کے خاص مرید کی زات کے نام سے رکھا گیا تھا۔
گوسائی رامانند کی زات تھی اور بدو ان کے مرید کی زات تھی
گوسائی+ بدو کے ملاپ سے اس گاؤں کا نام بدوکی گوسائیاں رکھا گیا۔
1947 تک اس مندر کے وارث رام نارائن گوسائی تھے جو بابا رامانند کی نسل میں سے تھے جو کہ ہجرت کر کے انڈیا چلے گئے.
تقسیم کے بعد بھی یہاں کافی عرصہ تک پوجا ہوتی رہی لیکن وقت گزرنے کے ساتھ لوگوں کا آنا کم ہوگیا اور مندر ویران ہوگیا۔
اس کے بعد مندر حکومتی تحویل میں لے لیا گیا اور مندر کے تالاب کو مچھلی فارم میں تبدیل کردیا گیا اور اگر کوئی شخص یہاں مچھلیاں پکڑنا چاہتا تھا تو اسے حکومت سے اجازت لینا پڑتی تھی لیکن آہستہ آہستہ اس میں بھی حکومت کی دلچسپی کم ہوتی گئی اور مچھلی فارم بھی بلکل ختم ہوتا گیا اور مندر کھنڈرات میں تبدیل ہوگیا۔
بابا رامانند کی نسل میں اور مندر کے موجودہ وارث "سریندر گوسائی" ہے جو کہ انڈیا کہ ضلع ہریانہ، کی کرنال تحصیل میں رہائش پذیر ہے اور وہاں انہوں نے باقاعدہ مندر ٹومری صاحب کے نام سے ایک مندر تعمیر کیا جہاں وہ مذہبی سرگرمیاں انجام دیتے ہیں۔
اس مندر کی حالت اب بہت خستہ اور کمزور ہو چکی ہے۔ اسکے تالاب کے گرد ایک چھوٹی دیوار تھی مگر اب وہ بھی بلکل مسمار ہوگئی۔ صرف ایک طرف سے اس دیوار کے کچھ آثار موجود ہیں۔ داخلی راستے میں ایک دروازہ ہوتا تھا۔ اس دروازے کے آثار بھی ختم ہو چکے ہیں۔ ایک طرف خواتین کیلئے علیحدہ سے چار دیواری بنائی گئی تھی جس میں خواتین سنان (غسل) کیا کرتی تھی۔
