The Saudi government has decided to resume Aitekaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah during Ramazan after two years, according to a report by the Saudi Gazette on Wednesday.

The announcement was made by Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, in an annual meeting held to launch the presidency's plan for this year's Ramazan.

He said that the presidency will soon start issuing permits through its official website. "They will be in line with specific conditions and set criteria," Al-Sudais added.

Q Airways is gearing up to start its domestic operations from July or August after fulfilling the conditions and receiving the air operation certificate. The airline has already been issued a regular public transport (RPT) license.

"We have already received the RPT,” said Chief Operating Officer S Kamran Hasan. “Now we are working to get eligible for an air operation certificate. We would start domestic operations as soon as we receive AOC.”

The investor behind Q Airways is Ramada Plaza Group, which is owned by Mohammad Anwar Qureshi. The official said there were no foreign investors in the airline but declined to share the total investment so far.

Hasan said that they were expecting to start operations by July or August. The new airlines were mandated to have six months of domestic operations before beginning international flights.

A Saudi-based company has joined hands with a Pakistani e-health service to set up a teleconsultation center in Makkah to facilitate Pakistani pilgrims in the kingdom through e-doctor program.

The Saudi-Pakistani Pilgrim Telehealth Center is established by Funadiq in Saudi Arabia and Educast in Pakistan. The facility is first in a series of such centers to be established in all major hotels of Makkah and Madinah with the help of Emaar Al Diyafa Hotels and Pakistan International Airlines.

Owned by Pakistanis, Funadiq uses artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies and is among the 34 exclusive online travel agencies approved by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia to process eight million transactions under the new Umrah system.

“The reason behind our decision to join hands with Educast is to provide medical facilities through e-doctors to Pakistani pilgrims during Hajj and Umrah to mitigate their problems in case they face medical emergencies,” Salman Arain, the company’s chief executive officer, told Arab News following the inauguration of the facility in Makkah on Saturday.

“We are the only Pakistan-origin company that is directly connected with new Saudi Umrah system,” he continued. “We have presence in Pakistan, North America, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and many other key countries.”

Expatriate investors can now own real estate in Oman worth up to half a million Rials, following a ministerial decision issued by Dr Khalfan bin Saeed Al Shuaili, the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning.

Expat investors who buy housing units valued between OMR 500,000 and OMR 250,000 will receive a first-class residence card, while those who own homes valued below OMR 250,000 will receive a second-class residence card, from the Real Estate Registry Secretariat.

'IS' Announces New Leader, Acknowledges Predecessor's Death

Investors who own homes that enable them to acquire first-class residence cards also have the right to own a single property outside those areas licensed for expatriate ownership.

The ownership of properties by expatriates must be done without showing prejudice to Royal Decree No. 29/2018 and the executive regulations issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 292/2020, which list those areas where expatriates in the Sultanate are prohibited from owning real estate.

04/03/2022

UAE-listed Air Arabia plans to start operations of its new joint venture airlines in Pakistan and Armenia by early June after securing the necessary operational licences for the budget carriers, the airline's group chief executive said.

Air Arabia will place three leased Airbus A320 jets with Karachi-based Fly Jinnah to start with domestic flights initially, while Fly Arna will be assigned two leased A320s to begin its first international route, Adel Ali said on the sidelines of the Arab Aviation Summit in Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday.

“They're both really working on the technical side of getting the Air Operator Certificate [AOC], and we're optimistic that by early May we will be able to do all that is required. If we do all that and we get issued with the AOC, then we hope that either by late May or early June we should be able to operate both airlines,” he told reporters at the conference.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, a low-cost joint venture launched with Etihad Airways at the height of the pandemic, is set to expand further this year as the emirate loosens pandemic-related travel restrictions, he said. It currently operates four Airbus narrow-body aircraft.

“There's a lot of work going on and we'd like before the summer to put more airplanes into that hub,” Mr Ali said. A decision on the number of aircraft will be made within the next few weeks.

According to a notice issued by PCAA, Jinnah International Airport’s main runway will remain partially closed for the next one month.

According to the notice issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, the airstrip will be partially closed for 5 days a week for 2 hours, from March 1 to March 31.

All planes will be redirected to the alternate runway for take-offs and landings, the notice said.

According to the PCAA authorities, the purpose of the closure is to clean it off the tire rubber that sticks to the runway during landings and takeoffs.

On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, the Jinnah International Airport’s runway will be closed from 8 am to 10 am, while on Wednesday the closure will last from 9:30 am to 11 am, and the closure timings on Friday will be 9 am to 11 am.

Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said the national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), was planning to start direct flights to Australia.

Talking to mediapersons on Sunday, Mr Khan said initially two weekly flights would operate between Karachi, Lahore and Sydney, and later Islamabad would also be added.

He said as there were no direct flights between Pakistan and Australia, it took around 35 hours to reach the country with stopovers in between.

Mr Khan further said the national carrier had resumed flights to the Syrian capital Damascus after 22 years as well as to Malaysia and Iraq, adding that from next month, “we plan to start direct flights to Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, from Karachi and Lahore”.

The minister also revealed that PIA would be including more locations to its network and adding four narrow-body aircraft to its fleet on dry lease in March to increase flights operations.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has implemented a new Direct Flights Plans. The idea will raise the PIA’s earnings while also boosting tourism in the country.

Flights to Turbat, in the Kech area of Balochistan, will be operated by the national flag carrier, according to information. Flights between Quetta and Turbat will begin on February 26.

It’s worth noting that Turbat is Balochistan’s second-largest city, behind Quetta. Due to its proximity to the Makran Range, it offers a multitude of tourist attractions. It is well-known for its more than 50 different types of dates. Punnu, the male character in the Sufi Legend Sassi and Punnu, lives there as well. The Sassi and Punnu Fort ruins can still be found in the city.

The PIA began direct flights between Turbat and Sharjah in February of last year. The decision was made to make it easier for tourists and locals to get to Turbat.

In addition, the national flag carrier will fly flights from Karachi and Lahore to Gilgit and Skardu. The flight service between Gilgit and Skardu will begin on March 13th.

16/02/2022

Qatar Airways’ scheduled flights to Multan International Airport, Pakistan, will resume on 22 February 2022, with a three-weekly service and taking it to four weekly, effective 27 March 2022 after the airline temporarily suspended flying to Multan in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The route will be operated by Airbus A320 offering seats in Business Class and Economy Class.

With the addition of three weekly flights to Multan, passengers can now enjoy seamless connectivity to over 140 destinations across the airline’s extensive global network via Hamad International Airport, including popular destinations across the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar remains committed to Pakistan with the resumption of Multan, further bolstering global connectivity. Following the resumption, the airline will operate 66 weekly flights to and from six airports in Pakistan, serving more cities in Pakistan than any other full-service global airline.

As the Oceanian country welcomes international tourists after two years of hiatus, Pakistan International Airlines has decided to start two weekly flights to Sydney.

Reports in local media quoting a spokesperson of the national flag carrier said PIA planned to operate the flights initially from Lahore and Karachi to the port city of Sydney while flights from the federal capital are also on the cards.

The initiative will cut travel time by around one-third. Abdullah Hafeez told a publication that direct flights would be happening for the first time ever as the airline conducted a feasibility study.

Reports also mentioned that direct flights will commence in late March or early April, while the airline has yet to receive authorization from the Australian aviation authority.

The government of Azerbaijan has announced an e-visa facility for Pakistani nationals. The country’s ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, announced the development.

“Happy to announce that Azerbaijan is open to brotherly Pakistan. Now e-visa system is applicable to all. Welcome to Azerbaijan!” the ambassador said on Twitter.

The development comes hours after Pakistan’s envoy to Azerbaijan, Bilal Hayee, revealed that both countries were also preparing to launch direct flights in the coming months.

“We hope that in the next couple of months, we will be able to resume and start direct flights between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. This will be a big breakthrough in terms of bringing the peoples of two countries closer,” Pakistani envoy told the News.az on Tuesday.

He noted that the direct flights would operate between Baku and the major cities of Pakistan.
