HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE! A groundbreaking rescue mission has been completed on K2's Bottleneck, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the mountain's first ascent.

A strong team of high-altitude climbers, led by renowned Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani, successfully retrieved Muhammad Hassan Shigri’s body from K2’s Bottleneck at 8,200m on July 29th, bringing him down to ABC on July 31st. This unprecedented mission from such an extreme altitude was made possible by Naila's quick organization of her existing cleanup team, responding swiftly to a request from Hassan's family.

Requesting prayers for the Hassan Shigri’s K2 bottleneck Rescue Mission:

A team of strong climbers is currently on the first-ever rescue mission from K2’s bottleneck at 8200m to retrieve the body of Mohammad Hassan Shigri, who died there last year. As far as I know, a rescue mission from this height on K2 has never been done before. The team, which I am managing, has managed to dig the body out of the snow and are at Camp 4 now and will make their way down to Camp 3 shortly.

Let’s send prayers for the team’s safety and the success of this mission. The family requested my help to bring him home, and we hope to showcase the incredible skills of our high-altitude workers. This mission also underscores the importance of advancing mountaineering education and safety.

We don’t have any funds available for this mission, so we kindly request support from corporates or individuals willing to fund this humanitarian effort. All funds will go towards the climbers’ salaries and logistics expenses.

Special thanks to Imran Ali for logistics support, DC Shigar Wali Ullah Falahi for the NOC, Ram Pokharal from Icefall Production for coordination, and Wilhelm Steindl for supporting Hassan’s family.

We will also need FCNA’s support with a heli to evacuate the body if we succeed, ideally from a higher camp, to reduce any risk to our rescuers and to make use of the current weather window.

No matter what happens, we need to be proud of this team for undertaking such a risky mission.

A poor man, and a porter,
Sher Muhammad of Tissar Shigar
who had gone to Concodia carrying a load of foreign mountaineers, has suddenly fainted yesterday. He was fighting with life and death battle on a glacier for almost 48hrs. The rescuee operation couldn't be carried out due to the circumstances.
Porter Sher Muhammad of Tissar Shigar died at Concordia, Today in the morning at 4am. His Dead body is being shifted down by porters.

The body of one of the two missing Japanese climbers was found at Spantik peak in Shigar Valley on Saturday during a rescue operation, while the search for the other climber is underway.

The two Japa­nese climbers went missing during their attempt to summit 7,027-metre Spa­ntik Peak, after ground rescuers remained unable to trace them in an initial attempt on Wednesday.

Ryuseki Hiraoka and Atsushi Taguchi climbing in Alpine style without porters had reached camp 2, situated at 5,300m altitude, between Shigar and Nagar districts of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday, but when another seven-member Japanese expedition team reached the camp the next day, they were not there.

Subse­qu­e­­ntly, they suspended their expedition and returned to the base camp to inform officials.

NAILA SUMMITS MAKALU, BECOMING THE FIRST EVER WOMAN IN PAKISTAN’S HISTORY TO SUMMIT 11 x 8,000-METRE PEAKS
After a treacherous climb through the night, Naila has achieved yet another historic milestone by successfully summiting Makalu, the 5th highest peak in the world at 8,485m, today at approx 9.35am Nepal local time (8.50am Pakistan). This remarkable achievement also means that she has become the first Pakistani woman to have summited this incredibly difficult mountain.
This latest achievement underscores her exceptional endurance and determination, where she leads as the fastest ever Pakistani in history, in both male and female categories, to have summited 11 of the 8,000m peaks, accomplished in under 3 years.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the reinstatement of its highly anticipated flight services between Dubai and Skardu, scheduled to resume from April 29, 2024.

Initially launched on August 14 last year, the Dubai-Skardu route attracted significant attention for its potential to enhance tourism and strengthen regional connectivity.

However, the harsh winter conditions in Skardu led to the suspension of flights, posing safety concerns for air travel. Despite this temporary setback, PIA remains steadfast in its commitment to passenger service and tourism promotion, thus announcing the revival of flight operations.

This decision is expected to reinvigorate tourism in Skardu, renowned for its breathtaking mountains, pristine lakes, and unparalleled natural beauty.
