A 10-member team of Nepali climbers become the first mountaineers to reach the summit of worlds second highest peak K-2 (8,611m).

The climbers reached the summit today afternoon at 17:00.

K2 was the last of the fourteen 8,000-meter peaks not summited in winter.

The climbers team include Nirmal Purja, Gelje Sherpa, Mingma David Sherpa, Mingma G, Sona Sherpa, Mingma Tenzi Sherpa, Pem Chihiri Sherpa, DawaTemba Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa and Dawa Tenjing Sherpa.

The team was led by Chhang Dawa Sherpa.

Climber Migma G becomes the first to summit K2 in the winter with no oxygen.

According to reports, all ten climbers stopped 30-feet below the summit on a relatively safe spot (still on a 40-degree snow slope at 28,200-feet) so that they could summit together in a sign of solidarity. No individual was listed as first.

Wishing my all friends a very Happy Losar ,May this day brings you Joy & Happiness in your life .
Tibet- Baltistan Arts Council ( Registered) is going to organise an event locally called, Jashan Mafung ( firewood festival) on this day of Losar.
Mafung ( firewood) event is an ancient and grand cultural festival of Baltistan and the entire Balti nation celebrate this day of Losar with great zeal and zest.
The identity of a nation lies in their culture.
Our culture is our identity.
INTRODUCTION
Balti or Bodic new year ( Losar ) begins on 21 December, the first day of Balti Calender year. The traditional seasonal calendar year is somehow similar to others that has been prevailing in Tibet, Ladakh and other region of the world. The four seasons of the Balti calender year is almost same except that the duration and periods found little bit differ with special reference to the climatic conditions and cultivation of agriculture Fields.
Balti seasonal calendar Year is based on solar ( sun's movement) rather than Lunar ( moon) and are essential for astrological calculations in order to evaluate pattern of variations of weeks, months, a year ( Lo chiok) and 12 years ( Loskore chik ) or Zodiac year ( 12 animals year ).
It help to find out overall community perception that are related to weather patterns, harshness of cold and warm weather, transhumance of livestock on seasonal basis, ploughing, hervesting and thrushing etc.
Balti Seasonal calendar start from 21 December of each year and it help to understand links between the gradually increasing temperature from 21 December to 21 June and gradual decrease in temperature from 21 June to 21 December.
The four seasons of Balti or Bodic calendar Year are:
1. Regone (Winter season )
It includes, i Khee trut ( Dog warmth) ii. Bia trut or Biafo trut ( C**k warmth) iii. Nang trut ( ( Home warmth) iv Fir trut ( Outside warmth) iv Sa trut ( soil warmth) etc
2. Khipt ( Spring season)
It includes, i Gotub ( First cultivation) ii Skiltub ( Middle cultivation ) iii. Jog tub ( Last cultivation)
3. Ghibiar ( Summer season)
It includes i Gopi ( First ) ii. Skili ( Mid) iii. Jogi ( Last summer)
4. Ston ( Autumn season )
It includes i Gopi ( First ) ii. Skili ( Mid) iii. Jogi ( Last Autumn)
This is how the importance of Balti Calender year and the first day of new year.
Tibet-Baltistan Arts Council is going to organise a grand festival this year, Jashan Mafung ( firewood festival ) on 21 December 2020 at 5.30 pm local time.
Local Public, tourists and foreign tourists are requested to participate in the event and we hope that all spectators will show great discipline
