Chocolate Rocks in Valley, Baltistan. Beautiful and attractive in sight, rocks are slippery and located along with Indus River in . Tourists need to walk with care on these rocks. It is believed that the river water has given the shape and chocolaty texture of the rocks. Rocks are completely merged in water when the water flow increases in the river.

In a major achievement in the tourism sector, as many as 1,400 international climbers — the highest numbers after the 9/11 attacks — will arrive in Pakistan to summit the world’s highest peaks this year, according to Alpine Club of Pakistan Secre­tary Karrar Haidri.

Last year, 550 climbers from across the globe arrived in the country for adventure tourism, dawn.com reported.

Haidri said that more than 400 climbers would attempt to scale K2, the second-highest — and also the most challenging — peak in the world.

He believed that the prevailing peaceful environment in Pakistan and the introduction of online visas had helped attract such a large number of international tourists this year.

As per the details, 700 permits have already been issued to the foreign climbers by the Gilgit-Baltistan tourism department, said an official. The first female Arab climber will also arrive in Pakistan to scale the peaks, the publication reported.

Most of the mountaineers will arrive in the country from Europe, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, China, Russia, Poland, Japan and Norway. During their tour, they will try to scale various peaks, including five eight-thousanders (i.e. mountains towering above 8,000 metres) and 20 seven- and six-thousanders in Gilgit-Baltistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan boasts five of the world’s 14 eight-thousanders, inclu­ding the world’s second-highest peak K2 (8,611 metres), followed by Nanga Parbat (ranked ninth at 8,126 metres), Gasher­brum-I (11th at 8,080 metres), Broad Peak (12th at 8,051 metres), and Gasher­brum-II (13th at 8,035m).

Beside foreigners, 40 Pakistani climbers are also in the race, including Sajid Ali Sadpara, Sir­baz Khan, Abdul Joshi, She­roze Kashif, Samina Baig and Naila Kiani.

Baltit Fort Hunza almost 800 years old Fort in the Hunza valley. The Fort is present on the top of the mountain like a Crown on the Valley. The old but wonderful building style of this fort is appreciable. The Baltit Fort build on a solid foundation of strong stones and wood was the palace of rulers of Hunza.

The ancient stairs also look unique and amazing. Likewise, a museum is established in the Fort. All the old things are preserved in this museum. So, ancient clothes of the Mir’s, Utensils, Pots, Swords and furthermore old letters too, are also there. All are made up of wood or soft stones. Even more, some musical instruments are also present.

Altit Fort Hunza according to the verbal history is almost 900 years old. The Altit Fort is present at almost 3 kilometers away from Karimabad on the bank of the Hunza River. Karimabad is the capital of Hunza valley. The word Altit means the lower side. Like other Forts in Gilgit Baltistan, this is also made of strong stones and wood. Below it, the Hunza river looks like bowing in front of Fort. Seeing its construction we can imagine how hard-working people they were. The Altit Fort has a magnificent view over the Hunza valley.

Khaplu Fort is one of the historic forts located in different areas of Baltistan. The Fort was built 400 years ago. Which is still a symbol of the past of Baltistan. Specialist Craftsmans were invited from Iran for the initial construction of this fort. Who built it as a great masterpiece of Islamic style. The building which is famous for its distinctive texture, the woodwork is done in it is unique in its nature. The work on roofs, windows, and doors has been done with great skills in Mughal, Kashmiris, and Iranian style.

Shigar Fort located in the Mal Shigar District, Gilgit Baltistan. Raja Hassan Khan Amacha, the Amacha Dynasty regime, builds this fort in the 17th century. This Fort is almost 400 years old. Wood, stone, and clay have been used in their construction. All the craftsmen from Kashmir were invited to build the fort along with them, local people also participated in the construction.

The Shigar Fort is also known as “Fongs Khar”. The word Fongs means large stone and Khar is Fort is Balti, the language of the Baltistan region. The Shigar Fort is a perfect rehabilitation of the original structure. This is Because the Fort is on top of a Rock. Almost 32Km away from Skardu city.

Renowned mountaineer Muhammad Karim aka Little Karim has passed away in CMH Rawalpindi this morning.

Karim was born in Hushe valley of District Ghanche.

A French documentary film maker Laurent Chevallier made a documentary on his life In 1985.

Chevalier also prepared a documentary on him titled: Mr Karim in 1997. He was again filmed for the third time by the same person later.
