پورٹرز کون ہوتے ہیں؟

کبھی غور کریں اور دیکھیں کہ کیا پورٹرز کوئی جِن ہوتے ہیں یا کوئی مونسٹر ہیں۔ ایسا ہرگز نہیں ہے۔ پورٹرز دراصل وہ انسان ہیں جن کی genetic evolution نسل در نسل پہاڑوں میں رہنے کی وجہ سے وہاں کے حالات کے مطابق قدرتی طور پر ہو چُکی ہے اور پھر اُنہوں نے اپنے روزگار کی غرض سے کوہ پیمائی میں استعمال ہونے والی مختلف techniques اور equipment کی مخصوص تربیت حاصل کر رکھی ہے۔ اسی وجہ سے ہمیں وہ مونسٹر لگتے ہیں۔
دوسرے لفظوں میں آپکے اپنے شوق کی تکمیل کےلیے آپ نے خُود پر تن آسانی کا جو لبادہ اوڑھ رکھا ہے اُسے اُتارے بغیر آپکو پہاڑ کی چوٹی پر پہنچنے میں مدد کرنے والا بندہ پورٹر کہلاتا ہے۔
پورٹرز کوہ پیمائی کا شوق رکھنے والے ہر اُس کھلاڑی کےلیے ضروری ہیں جو جسمانی، دماغی اور تکنیکی تربیت پر یقین نہیں رکھتا۔ ہمارے خِطّے کے پہاڑی سلسلوں میں کوہ پیمائی کےلیے استعمال کیے جانے والے پورٹرز اگر صرف کوہ پیماؤں کی اشیائے خُورونوش اور ٹیکنیکل سازوسامان کی ترسیل کےلیے ہی استعمال کیے جائیں تو یہ کوہ پیما اور پورٹرز دونوں کی صلاحیتوں اور اُنکی زندگی کےلیے بہت بہتر ہوگا بصورتِ دیگر جب آپ پورٹرز پر liability بنتے ہیں تو پھر یہ سمجھ لیں کہ آپ اپنی اور اُنکی دونوں زندگیوں کو خطرے میں ڈال رہے ہیں۔ پہاڑ پر High Altitude Porters کی زندگیوں کو خطرے میں ڈالنا ایک انتہائی غلط فعل ہے۔ کوہ پیمائی میں پورٹرز کو غیرضروری طور پر اوور لوڈ کرکے استعمال کرنا اور سب سے بڑھ کر اُنکی سیفٹی کا خیال نہ رکھنا میرے نزدیک criminal negligence ہے۔

میدانی علاقوں کے لوگ اگر اپنے body systems کی adaptation کےلیے اپنی جسمانی تربیت پر توجہ دیں اور سب سے بڑھ کر کوہ پیمائی کی بُنیادی تربیت حاصل کرلیں تو یقیناً پورٹرز پر اُنکی dependency کم ہو جائے گی جو کوہ پیمائی میں دونوں کےلیے ضروری ہے اور یقیناً کامیابی کی ضمانت بھی.
