Nanga Parbat translates 'naked-mountain', also known locally as Diamer. It is the ninth-highest mountain in the world at 8,126 metres (26,660 ft) above sea level. Located in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Nanga Parbat is the western anchor of the Himalayas. The name Nanga Parbat is derived from the Sanskrit words nagna and parvata, which, when combined, translate to "Naked Mountain". The mountain is known locally by its Tibetan name Diamer or Deo Mir, meaning "huge mountain".

Nanga Parbat is one of the 14 eight-thousanders. An immense, dramatic peak rising far above its surrounding terrain, Nanga Parbat is known to be a difficult climb, and has earned the nickname Killer Mountain for its high number of climber fatalities.

from USA was on an extraordinary trip with us to Fairy Meadows, back in 2018. Zain was astounded by the beauty of Fairy Meadows directly facing towards the mighty Nanga Parbat. Pakistan is a country of diverse wild life across the country, fresh water lakes, ice capped mountains, largest glaciers, deserts and its 1000 KM coastline. There is wide variety of bird species in this region 🐦 There are no well equipped bird watching activities in general, however provide it's signature services for birdwatchers. The bird watching season goes around the year but winter is even better when a wide variety of birds visit the wetlands and plains of Pakistan from Siberia 🦅 During summer the high altitude mountain valleys of Northern Pakistan can be visited for watching unique species of resident birds. Shangri-La is a fictional place described in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British author James Hilton. Hilton describes Shangri-La as a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Kunlun Mountains. Shangri-La has become synonymous with any earthly paradise, particularly a mythical Himalayan utopia – an enduringly happy land, isolated from the world. In the novel, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living hundreds of years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance.

In the ancient Tibetan scriptures, the existence of seven such places are mentioned as Nghe-Beyul Khembalung. Khembalung is one of several beyuls (hidden lands similar to Shangri-La) believed to have been created by Padmasambhava in the 9th century as idyllic, sacred places of refuge for Buddhists during times of strife (Reinhard, 1978).

Well this is Shangrila in Skardu, Pakistan 🇵🇰. This is one of the seven places mentioned similar to Nghe-Beyul Khumbelung.

Golden Marmot of Deosai

The Long-tailed Marmot is a species of marmot in the Sciuridae family. It is found in Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, China, India, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Deosai Plain is a natural habitat for them and lot of marmot can be seen sitting on their brows.

The Deosai Plains are also home to the Siberian ibex, Kashmir musk deer, Himalayan wolf, Snow leopard, Brown bear and over 124 types of resident and migratory birds.

As cliché as it sounds, chai is more than a drink ☕. Pakistani chai is a daily ritual that infuses calm and a heightened sense of the moment. It is most commonly consumed in Pakistan and South East Asian region. It is black hot tea accompanied with milk and sugar as shown in the picture below.

Along with the tea you can see a traditional snack Chapshoro 🥟 widely liked in the Northern Pakistan (Gilgit Baltistan). It's a simple and straightforward preparation of cooked minced meat stuffed and sealed between two whole wheat flatbread 🌾, and then cooked over a skillet. It's brushed with apricot oil once ready to serve.

Samina Khayal Baig ( Samina Baig ) hails from Pakistan, a high-altitude mountaineer who in 2013 climbed Mount Everest
and then all Seven Summits by 2014. She is the first Pakistani woman to climb Everest and the Seven Summits.

In recent news Samina told media that climbing K2 has always been her dream and she’s planning to do so for last two years but she hasn’t got enough support for the expedition and government seems least interested to support. Although the Everest is 237-metre taller, K2 is widely perceived to be a far harder climb, she said.

According to reports, the K2 ranks as one of the most dangerous mountains in the world to climb. It is estimated that 74 of the K2’s 280 summiteers have died, meaning that 26 percent of those who reached the top died on the way back down.

Samina added that it is disappointing that despite bringing laurels, the sport of mountaineering isn’t getting the due support. “Last year, we were planning to take Pakistan’s first-ever women’s team to Everest. It would’ve been country’s first women expedition to the Everest but it couldn’t work as we did not get any support,” she said.

Samina highlighted that since her summit to the Everest, a lot of women mountaineers have joined in and are doing good
for country. “We have come a long way, a lot of youth especially women are now taking interest in mountaineering, we get
equal participation from women in our training camps and there are women who have climbed 6,700 peaks, so it is a wonderful
thing,” she explained.

“It is important to support women in adventure sport. World recognises this sport but in Pakistan nobody cares,” Samina
emphasised.

Being from a small village of Gilgit-Baltistan, Samina said her achievement has also encouraged other girls of her village to excel in sports and other activities. “Before 2013, there was not much awareness about sports, but since I summit Mount Everest it gave other women a motivation that they could also achieve something in their respective field,” she said.
