•The Historical Forts of Pakistan - Chapter Four•

The Shigar Fort means The Fort on Rock is an old fort of Baltistan and Pakistan located in the town of Shigar. It was built in the 17th century by the Raja of Amacha Dynasty of Shigar.

The fort has been restored by Aga Khan Cultural Service Pakistan (AKCSP-P), the Pakistan arm of the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme. After restoration, the Fort was converted to a museum and luxury hotel managed by Serena Hotels.

•The Historical Forts of Pakistan - Chapter Three•

Khaplu Fort (Khaplu Palace), situated in Gilgit Baltistan, is considered an architectural heritage site and a significant tourist attraction. It was built in the mid-19th century and served as a royal residence for the Raja of Khaplu.
From 2005 to 2011, Khaplu Palace underwent a restoration project carried out by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture under the Aga Khan Historic Cities Programme.
The palace now houses a hotel operated by Serena Hotels and a museum depicting the history and culture of Baltistan.

Altit (meaning: this side down) Fort, is another cultural architecture for the Hunza Valley in Baltistan. It is a historical fort which was home to the hereditary rulers of the Hunza State.

What makes the Altit fort a tourist attraction is that it's the oldest monument in Gilgit Baltistan. The fort has received the UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2011.

The Baltit Fort (a wood-and-stone structure with mud plaster) stands on moraines of Ultar glacier in the central Hunza valley, among the Karakorum range, in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.The rich beauty of Baltit Fort can be traced back 700 years, to Ayasho II, Tham/Mir (ruler) of Hunza, who married Princess Shah Khatoon (Sha Qhatun) from Baltistan in the early 15th Century.
