The words Azadari ( Persian ) or Sogvar ( Urdu ) which mean mourning and Majalis-e-Aza have been exclusive used in connection with the remembrance for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain ( AS ). According to Islamic history , the first such majlis was held following the battle of Karbla by prophets grand daughter Hazrat Zainab bint Ali and sister of Imam Hussain before entering to Damascus where she was imprisoned. Later on Imam Zain ul Abdien son of Imam Hussain began mourning majalis and delivered speeches through out Iraq , Syria and Hejaz.
