🕊️ In Memoriam: Honoring Mr. Amjad Ayub🌹

With heavy hearts, the KIU Adventure Society and students of KIU Hunza Campus extend our deepest condolences on the passing of the esteemed Mr. Amjad Ayub, Chief Operating Officer of Hunza Darbar Hotel and Kallisto Group of Hotels.
Mr. Ayub was not only a dedicated professional but also a selfless teacher who generously shared his expertise in Tourism with our students. His voluntary commitment to teaching created a bond that went beyond the classroom, making him a cherished mentor and favorite among many.
As a tourism expert and consultant, Mr. Ayub made invaluable contributions to our academic community. His passion for the field left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those he taught. 🌍✨ Empowering change and Sustainable Tourism ✨🌿
Rethinking tourism in Gilgit Baltistan and promoting sustainable tourism practices in Gilgit Baltistan, a captivating one-day session on "Advocacy for Sustainable Tourism and Improved Standards" were conducted and led by Afzal an enthusiastic student of Tourism studies from Karakoram International University, Hunza Campus, GB 🏞️🌟 with the help of Pak US Alumni Network Gilgit Baltistan-Chapter and American Citizens Services, U.S. Mission Pakistan
The event, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable tourism and its positive impact on local communities and the environment, saw remarkable success.

With enthusiastic participation from passionate tourism industry experts specially Haji Muhammad Iqbal Managing Director Baltistan Tours and Ex- president BAATO, Hospitality Professionals, and major tourism stakeholders specially Assistant Commissioner District Ghanche Mr. M. Ali Zafar, President Ghanche Hotel Association Mr. Qutubuddin, delightful participation of Dr. Sanaullah Area Manager AKRSP, dedicated young future tourism leaders, specially the students of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Students mentor Miss Zubaida Mosa, Alumni members of Pak-Us Alumni Network Baltistan Chapter and students of Access Khaplu.

😀🎉 Congratulations on the successful MOU signing!

This is great news and a significant achievement for both institutions especially for Karakoram International University . The signing of an MOU marks the beginning of a promising collaboration and sets the foundation for a mutually beneficial partnership.
The IBA Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) and Karakoram International University’s ORIC Department signed an MoU on 5th May 2023 at IBA Main Campus. Dr. S Akbar Zaidi, Executive Director IBA and Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice Chancellor Karakoram International University signed the MoU in the presence of Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz, Director IBA-CED and Dr. Rehmat Karim, Director Hunza Campus, Karakoram International University.
The objective of this MOU is to establish collaboration between IBA-CED and ORIC, Karakoram University for entrepreneurship related joint training and research projects. Both the universities agreed to work together for entrepreneurship training, startup and student exchange for development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

It is a great pleasure to announce that our Campus team has secured the second position in the recently held inter-campus competition on "Pakistaniat” on March 23, 2023 at the KIU Main Campus in collaboration with . This is a great achievement for all of us and we are proud of our team for their hard work and dedication.
Our team competed with various other colleges and universities in different events including quizzes, national songs, speeches and dramatics. KIU Hunza Campus excelled in the quiz and mili nagma competition and secured the first position in both. In the drama competition, KIU Hunza Campus stood second. The competition was intense, and our team showed great sportsmanship and determination throughout.

In order to fill the gap of trained tour guides and to provide opportunity to unemployed young people to get jobs in the field of tour operation, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) in collaboration with Department of Tourist Services (DTS), Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP), College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM) and Pakistan Association of Tour Operators (PATO) under the supervision of World Federation of Tour Guides Association (WFTGA) is organizing a series of tour guides training workshops under the National Tour Guide Training Program.

The first two weeks extensive Tour Guides Training Program is scheduled to be held in Islamabad from 18 to 31 March 2023.

KIU Hunza Campus Tourism and Hospitality Management students had a wonderful opportunity to explore the scenic beauty and hospitality of Shangrilla Resort Skardu ⛵
The elegant Lower Kachura lake and Shangrila resort overlooking the Mountains is 3 km from Upper Kachura Lake and 18 km from Skardu

During the tour, students visit different departments of the resort to increase their knowledge of hospitality operations, quality services, tools, techniques, and new information related to the hospitality industry. The honorable operations manager welcomed the student and also shared his experiences, potentials, and challenges to the hospitality industry in Gilgit Baltistan.

The students and the Department of Tourism of KIU Hunza Campus are very grateful to the Shangri-La Resort Skardu and especially to Mr. Aftab Alam, the Resort's Operations Manager, for his lovely afternoon tea and kind hospitality.

World Tourism Day celebrated at KIU Hunza Campus with the help of many unique themed based activities.

Purpose: KIU hunza Campus celeberted the day with the aimed of strengthening tourism networking and integration between different tourism stakeholders through panel discussion.

KIU Hunza Campus in collaboration with DC office Hunza organized one-day seminar on “Rethinking Tourism” where the Senior Minister Government of Gilgit-Baltistan Col. rtd. Ubaid Ullah Baig graced the event as chief guest. A panel discussion was hosted by Dr. Rehmat Karim Director KIU Hunza campus where experts from tourism and hospitality sector participants as panelists. Participates of the panel discussion were included Mr. Amjad Ayub tourism expert, Mr. Manzoor Karim president hotel association Hunza, Mr. Irfan secretary Tour Association, Mr. Khayam Baig CEO KADO, Mr. Sher Ahmed community representative, Mr. Muhammad Masood Nawaz, Assistant Manager SMEDA and Mr. Kashif Baig Assistant Director Tourism Department Govt of GB. The event was attended by large number of students, staff and faculty members and local community.

Conclusions:
1) Panelists of the discussions stressed on the role of local community in ensuring sustainable tourism development in the region and demanded government of GB for effective role in the development of tourism in the region through policy formulation.
2) Mr. Amjad Ayub presented key points of the discussions and recommendations for the stakeholders of the tourism. He also stressed on the establishment of Tourism board on destinations and suggested to make KIU Hunza Campus as leading School of Tourism in Gilgit Baltistan.
3) The stakeholders agreed to create a holistic approaches to make tourism in Gilgit Baltistan more sustainable, inclusive and resilient sector.

Along with Students of the campus also participated in the environmental cleaning derive, Cycling Rally, hiking, trekking and rock climbing at Aliabad Hunza. Other collaborative of the event were KADO, AKRSP, SMEDA, Hotel Association Hunza, Travel and Guide Association Hunza, Tourist Police Hunza, District Health office Hunza and Hidden Hidden Paradise Tours Karimabad .
