Mehdiabad is located on the way of Kargil road in Baltistan District Kharmang.
Mehdiabad the old name is "Parkuta" had it's own importance in cultural religious and defense point of view. Mehdiabad (Parkuta) was a village having 500 household in Past, Situated on the bank of Indus River comes from kargil and ladakh (India). In past, Mehdiabad Khar (fort) had the only door to enter the Parkuta village called "Ghabgi Khari Stagho" (Door of 500 households). Nobody could enter the village after closing the only gate. Because of the only door/gate deterrence of enemy reduces. Residents of Parkuta usually literate and hardworking.
