A heartbreaking news from Caucasus Mountains. Archil Badriashvili is no more with us. Such a great loss.
His spirit will continue to live on through the mountains he loved and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.

Rest in peace, Archil. You will be sorely missed.

Piolet d'Or winner Archil Badriashvili of Georgia died Saturday after a lightning strike on his country's Shkhelda Peak (4,388m). He was 34 years old.

𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐫 (𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐫) is a notable chain of peaks located in the Hindu Kush mountain range in Chitral, Pakistan. The highest peak, Tirich Mir Main, stands at 7,708 meters (25,289 feet) and is the highest peak in the entire Hindu Kush range.⁣

Contrary to some claims, Terich Mir is not accessed via Susum valley but primarily through the Terich Valley. The first expedition to climb Terich Mir in 1950 used the Owir route, but subsequent expeditions have predominantly utilized the Terich Valley for access.⁣
The Terich Valley provides routes to all the major peaks of the Hindu Kush, including Noshaq, Istoronal, and Saraghrar.⁣

Though attempted in the past, Raghshur remains unconquered, presenting a tantalizing challenge to seasoned mountaineers. The first known attempt was made in August 1974 by a 10-member Italian Expedition. Despite valiant efforts, the summit remained elusive. In August 2009, a three-member Greek expedition ventured forth, seeking a new route to the summit. While progress was made, the ultimate goal was not achieved, leaving Raghshur unconquered yet again.
