A heartbreaking news from Caucasus Mountains. Archil Badriashvili is no more with us. Such a great loss.
His spirit will continue to live on through the mountains he loved and the memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, Archil. You will be sorely missed.
Piolet d'Or winner Archil Badriashvili of Georgia died Saturday after a lightning strike on his country's Shkhelda Peak (4,388m). He was 34 years old.

Contrary to some claims, Terich Mir is not accessed via Susum valley but primarily through the Terich Valley. The first expedition to climb Terich Mir in 1950 used the Owir route, but subsequent expeditions have predominantly utilized the Terich Valley for access.โฃ
The Terich Valley provides routes to all the major peaks of the Hindu Kush, including Noshaq, Istoronal, and Saraghrar.โฃ
