A couple of days back I ventured to visit the glorious Haramosh Valley and to ensure that everything is in place. I requested Mr. Hamid Mir to make reservations at Sassi for Hotel and Jeep.
Later when I tried to contact him I found that his phone was switched off for the next four days. Strange!
To our surprise when we reached Sassi we came to know that there was nothing reserved when Hamid has already made a pledge that everything will done as told. To save our time I managed another commute and reached Haramosh. On the way, Hamid showed up with goons and demanded the money for jeep & hotel rentals and made excuses that we didn’t inquired the hotel reservations and jeep was on the way, however, the tyre got blown and couldn’t reach well in time.
This meant that we have to pay a total of 22k for the rentals when clearly nothing was provided. Then the cherry on the top the bill we got for the food. The prices were charged beyond our belief.
The amazing twist came when on my inquiry the hotel guy told me that Mir is partner and never made mention of any money that he collected. This is just one way of oozing money out of peoples pocket when they don’t provide any service and claim that they have made reservations. Please be careful of the likes of Hamid when visiting Haramosh. I’m putting this post up for the best interest of the trekkers community and enthusiasts so that you may not fall prey to such scammers.
