The Debating Society arranges debate competitions, symposiums and many other competitions on issues of national significance or relevance. Topics cover a wide range of issues related to the economy, business, technology, personality development, etc.The Debating S

ociety is steeped founded as a forum for discussion and debate, at a time when the free exchange of ideas was a notion foreign to the restrictive University authorities. It soon became the only place for students to discuss all sorts of social and political topics whilst at UMT.Debating Society Membership marks a real investment in your educational and social experience while at University, whether at a debate with high-profile speakers or a quiet drink in Café.

Revealing the indispensable logo of the UMT DEBATING CLUB! The logo represents the Wisdom, Knowledge, Freedom and Determination of a DEBATER. The symbols and the elements of the logo allingns by the vision of the society to signify the growth. Following are the details regarding the logo: - The Podium represents the freedom of speech given to each speaker. - The Books represent wisdom and knowledge. Here in this logo it symbolizes as wings. - Wing symbolism is diverse, but most commonly wings signify freedom, escape protection and in dreams that you have lofty aspirations. - The Leaves represent determination. - Three Stars represent growth in life or in your achievements or career goals. - Colors are gold colour signifies the importance of wisdom and harmony while white shows the essence of trust by which a debater stands and the black represents the prestige of words for a debater and the shades of blue signifies the serenity with which a debater uses his/her words. Incorporating the SDG 17’s, The Sustainable Development Goals which are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. UMT students expressed their views on injustice, oppression and subjugation that people of Kashmir have been facing for over seven decades.
