Two elite mountaineers have died on K2. Kazuya Hiraide, 45, and Kenro Nakajima, 39, fell from k2 West Face.

Hiraide has won three Piolets d’Or Awards for best expeditions of the year. The first with his late partner Kei Taniguchi, and the two others two were with Nakajima - in 2022 for their climb on Karun Koh, and for their expedition in 2023 on Tirich Mir. The Piolet d'Or, or Golden Ice Axe, is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of mountaineering.

The elder member of the famous Huber brothers (Thomas and Alex) is determined to climb the north face of Latok I.
Why again...there are three mountain ranges in the world that have most influenced my life as a climber: Yosemite Valley, Cerro Torre and Latok Group. Our climbing career started on the Latoks, Karakorum,Pakistan when we climbed the legendary SW Face of Latok 2 in 1997, continued with the ascents of Ogre 3 and Ogre in 2001 and since 2015 the Choktoi has been my focus and desire and what I saw there blew me away away. Or better in Jim Donini's words: "This is it! There are no better peaks and walls in the climbing world.... This is the Mountain Cathedral"... that's why....

Highest Mountain in the world:
that is still unclimbed.
Muchu Chhish (7452m).

Alpinists since the start of exploration era aimed for the remaining great problems in Alpinism. A wildest dream to do what is yet to be done.
Aiming for the mountains that is yet to be climbed, a line that is still undone. Over the years and decades that list of the "last great problems' kept declining.
There are more than a dozen and a half mountains considered to be the last remaining big mountains (over seven thousand meters) still waiting for summit feet.
Gangkhar puensum(7570m) in Bhutan is the highest of them all, but terminated for future climbing expeditions as it is considered sacred in Bhutanese traditions, making Muchu Chhish the highest unclimbed mountain in the World.
