Many people ask about calm, safe beaches near San Juan. A great option is ‘Parque Nacional Isla de Cabrás’. This national park features sea walls that create shallow, low current pools that are safe for all ages. Plus there are beautiful views of El Morro as well as restrooms and even rentable pavilions! The area is open Wednesday-Sunday.

Sometimes doing something different can be fun and exciting, and maybe just a little bit scary. One of the joys of traveling is getting to experience something you’ve never done before and, who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it.
Seeing a whole roasted pig can be kind of shocking but it is still delicious and nothing goes to waste. It’s an experience not to be missed and can be seen at the many lechóneras in Guavate on the pork highway.

Watch for rip currents this week!!

On the eve of 4th of July, we remind beachgoers, boaters and people looking to conduct any activities in the water in Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands to check your your latest US National Weather Service San Juan Puerto Rico weather update before heading out to enjoy your day. Be on the lookout for any small craft, rip-current and other safety advisories.

At this time, there moderate to high rip current risks affecting the entire coasts of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands with projected surf heights from three to six feet.

Keep in mind any local ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Beryl's coastal and shoreline impacts along the southern coasts of Puerto Rico and USVI.

Rip Current Risk Categories:

* Moderate Risk - Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the
surf zone.
* High Risk - Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf
zone.
