Coamo hot springs are the only current functioning hot spring in Puerto Rico (others are rumored), and is the original fountain of youth seeked by Juan Ponce de León, the Spanish conquistador who was Puerto Rico's first Spanish governor in the year 1508 and later went on to the Bahamas & Florida and founded St. Augustine. Legend has it that Taínos led him to the place, as it was common knowledge for them that the waters had curative powers.

Anyone care to join us? We've got room for four more this Tuesday, leaving from San Juan @ 6am, coming back @ 5pm. We'll have breakfast, go up the Cordillera Central into Las Tetas de Cayey, do the Baños de Coamo hot springs, go for a waterfall dip in the south, and then go back up the Carite Rainforest to Guavate's Pork Highway.
