It offers them a place to stay in and create memories of their visit, all with a cultural twist and an exchange of experiences with the local community. Situated in the heart of Nablus city, the Nablus Youth Hostel is conveniently close to all the important facilities of the city. It’s a 2-minute walk from the city center, and a 5-minute walk to the headquarters of the Human Supporters Association
, and very close to the service-taxis station which can get you anywhere you would like to go within the city, as well as the bus station where you will find relatively cheap transportation to any other city you would like to visit. Having been built to be a family house, the hostel has a really comfortable cozy feeling to it. When you first enter, you’re welcomed by a yard renovated but still keeping the same structure and bricks used when the house was built; there you can have your morning coffee or relax in the evening after a long day of walking around the city. The hostel provides sleeping arrangements for 20 people, with a separated accommodation for both males and females; it has 3 bathrooms equipped with the needed facilities, 1 typical living room with a dining table and a TV set and another oriental living room where you can relax during the afternoon and 1 large kitchen with all the necessary equipment. The Nablus Youth Hostel was first built over 100 years ago on the side of, what was then, the train railway that once connected Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. It was owned by one of the oldest and biggest families in Nablus, Al-Khayyats, and they built it according to the architectural structures that were popular in the area at that time. Later, and because of the repeated invasions of the city, they had to move out of the house, and parts of it were destroyed. Recently, Human Supporter Association (HSA) -a local NGO in Nablus who implements different projects to ensure the psycho-educational well-being of Nablus’ youth and women, while still providing opportunities for volunteers from the international community to take part in the Palestinian conflict- decided in cooperation with the current owner of this house, Mr. Hamza Khayyat, to renovate the house and turn it into a hostel to provide a home for all international visitors who are interested in experiencing the Palestinian culture, especially the Nabulsi one, from an inside point of view. Our prices are very competitive and convenient to anybody who is planning a trip to Palestine and not wishing to spend a lot of money on the accommodation. A special price-package can be arranged for groups, and students who are here for their internship period on a low budget are very well taken care of. The owners of the Hostel are well known for their philanthropy work, so they set aside a part of the income from the Hostel to be a donation to the Human Supporters Association to help fund their projects that deal with the children of Nablus and its surroundings. Most of the projects that they help fund focus on the traumatic cases in the society and provide the youth with a safe place to express their feelings and experiences and talk about their personal stories. Staying in the Nablus Youth Hostel is considered a cultural experience, since it’s located in one of the most popular areas in the city, and has lots of nice neighbors who are more than happy to share their stories and welcome any international visitors. Also, a wide range of traditional dishes and sweets, such as Kunafa, is offered, and although there’s an additional cost, but it is considered an invitation to discover the Palestinian cuisine and culture, since food is like a ritual and is considered to be the soul of the house. Therefore your time here will offer you the opportunity to get closer to the traditional cuisine whilst gaining a deeper insight into the Palestinian culture.
