Are you a fan of exploring the outdoors?
Located in Óbidos, near the town of Gaeiras, the Arnóia River Dam, or "Barragem do Rio Arnóia", is a great place to catch fresh air, walk, cycle and even fish for carp! 🎣

This dam receives the waters of the Arnóia River, which springs in the hills of Serra de Todo Mundo and flows into the Óbidos lagoon. Its course, about 30 km long, passes through the villages of A-dos-Francos, A-dos-Negros, Painho and Óbidos.
The dam was designed in 1997 and started operating in 2005, with an irrigation plan for agricultural purposes. However, today it's mostly used by locals due to its excellent conditions for sports and outdoor leisure activities.
Nearby, there is a cycling path known as "Ciclovia das Águas" that connects the dam to the centre of Óbidos, passing through small villages and viewpoints.
There are also local groups that organize hiking tours around the dam, allowing close contact with the natural flora of the region and surrounding villages. Some of these trails start near the medieval village of Óbidos and include passage through the ancient Roman ruins of Eburobrittium.

Cabo Carvoeiro 🤩 must see!

𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 #𝟳𝟲 - 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗼𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗼, 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲

Located on the edge of the Peniche Peninsula, Cabo Carvoeiro is one of the most visited places on the Silver Coast and also one of the most beautiful!
From here, you can see the Berlengas archipelago and a rock formation known as the Nau dos Corvos (crow’s ship) because it resembles a caravel and there are always sea birds resting there.
Besides offering a superb view over the Atlantic Ocean, the road that leads you to the Cape passes along heavily eroded limestone cliffs and lapis fields that are absolutely beautiful.
Among the places worth visiting, you will find the Cabo Carvoeiro Lighthouse, 25 m high, built here because of the countless shipwrecks that occurred along this stretch of coastline.
Further north, the small Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios is also worth visiting. In the past, this small chapel was a well-known site for Catholic pilgrimages. Its interior is lined with valuable 18th-century tiles, from the workshop of master António de Oliveira Bernardes.

• Next to the Cape Carvoeiro viewpoint, there is a parking lot, sanitary facilities and a café with an outdoor terrace to enjoy an ice cream or a quick snack.
• Along the road that connects the village of Peniche to Cabo Carvoeiro, there are also many viewpoints where you can stop your car safely and enjoy the stunning view over the Atlantic!

𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁 #𝟰𝟰 - 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗲́

What better way to see the beach and town of Nazaré than sitting comfortably in an elevator with a panoramic view?

Built in 1889, the “Ascensor” or “Elevador" connects Nazaré beach to the highest part of this fishing village, known as Sítio, stretching over a distance of 318 metres (50 of which are in a tunnel). The original elevator ran on steam and only during the summer.

Nowadays, the elevator is electrically powered and runs all year round, being used by local residents and tourists alike.

During the short ride, the landscape is always breathtaking and one of the best places to witness fabulous views of the town's red rooftops, the beach and the sunset ...
For many, this is one of Nazaré's most memorable experiences!

The Lighthouse on the hill of Santo António is one of São Martinho do Porto’s most iconic places 🤩

Set on the sea-facing cliffs of the northern entrance of São Martinho do Porto bay, this lighthouse may be small, but it has huge importance in local history and is undoubtedly one of the best look-out points in the Silver Coast.

In the past, this lighthouse, along with a second one on the dunes in the centre of the bay, was part of an orientation system that helped sailors reach the beach safely. Nowadays, the lighthouse serves solely for tourism and as a memory of this ancient fishing village’s past.

𝗧𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲, you can choose between two access points:

• Next to the parking lot on Santo António hill, you can access the lighthouse via a stairway followed by a dirt path. The 400-metre hike to the lighthouse is very worthwhile, offering beautiful views of the bay and the open sea.
Be careful not to wander too far from the path, as advised by the safety signs. The cliffs further away from the trail may be unstable!

• Alternatively, you can climb the stairs on the pier of São Martinho do Porto, on the right side of Ti’Luis’ villa. There is no sign showing the stairs, but if you need help Ti’ Luis, one of the most cherished symbols of the local fishing and sailing community, will gladly help as he is usually nearby the nautical club.
