Gecko Dance will offer you the opportunity to dance in beautiful rural Portugal. Guest teachers will be chosen for their friendly attitude & dance experience.

There will be informal & fun classes, sociable freestyle evenings, workshops & holidays. Gecko dance will be organising dance classes, sociable freestyle dance evenings, dance workshops and dance holidays primarily in the Marvao area of Portugal. Dance classes will be available for those who like partner dancing or group dancing. One to one private lessons will also be available for people who wan

t to fast track onto the social dance floor. The dance styles will include Modern Jive, Salsa, Lindy Hop and more! Bats as Pollinators .

The pollination of plants by bats is called chiropterophily. Plants pollinated by bats often have pale nocturnal flowers (in contrast, bees are mostly attracted to bright, daytime flowers). These flowers are often large and bell shaped, and some bats have evolved specifically to reach the nectar at the bottom of them.

The common feeding features of pollinating bats are elongated snouts and tongues, combined with smaller and fewer teeth. This aids in the rapid collection of nectar. “Bats get pollen on their faces and bodies and go to the next flower. That is how cross pollination happens,”

Bats play an important role in many habitats around the world. Some tropical plants depend partly or wholly on certain bat species to pollinate their flowers or spread their seeds, while many bats, including all British species, help control insects by feeding on them.

Hidden beneath London's streets lie 2,000 kilometres of brick tunnels that take raw sewage direct from homes, along with 130 kilometres of interconnecting main sewers the size of railway tunnels.

Much was engineered in the middle of the 19th century, including magnificent cathedral-like sewage pumping stations.

The magnificent Crossness Pumping Station raised the effluent from the south of the river up 12 metres into a reservoir using four enormous powerful beam engines.

It was designed by James Watt & Co and named Victoria, Prince Consort, Albert Edward and Alexandra.

From here, it was released into the Thames well beyond London, swept out to sea on the ebbing tide.
