Hi all

Following recent local events I have felt compelled to reach out to my network to see if collectively we can raise some funds for the very brave volunteer fire fighters.

The link above is for a registered charity called Alerta, who raise money for the volunteer firefighters. If you are able to donate please quote “Golden Triangle Fires” so we can track our progress.

Charity Information

Whilst carrying out lots of research trying to find the best way to support the firefighters I found Alerta. During the summer months Alerta regularly deliver supplies of bottled water and energy bars to the firefighters, then when there is a fire they supply extra food like energy drinks, biscuits, fruit juices, fresh fruit, or any hand held food really. They also buy first aid medical supplies, burn creams, eye wash, vaseline, gauze, dressings, plasters, bandages, toiletries and sanitary goods for the ladies.

If they have raised enough money during the year, at the end of the season they buy replacement uniforms, the red jackets with a special harness inside for quick extraction, trousers, cortex boots and balaclava which cost around €350 or with helmet €500.

There are 13 volunteer stations which get first priority and then 4 which are fully funded by the government, these do not require uniforms.

Thank you to everyone for your lovely messages of great concern. The tennis centre managed to escape any damage, although the fires came very close at the top of the road at Quadradinhos.
However, although nobody was injured some of our tennis family, friends and local community were not so lucky with their properties and, it goes without saying, we are here if you need anything.
Thank you to our emergency services and to the firefighters, who are mainly volunteers, without all of you we would most certainly have had far more devastation.
Although the fires seem to have stalled the fire fighters are still present and keeping an eye on the situation which is perilous with the heat and high winds.
Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and hopefully we will see you all soon.

Thank you to everyone who has made this summer at the tennis centre not only possible but so special.
We have welcomed back so many of our friends and made lots of new ones along the way.
A huge thank you to the team that have worked so hard through the long, hot days. You have all been fantastic and the tennis centre just wouldn’t be the same without you.

To all our friends.
Thank you everyone for your invaluable support since we reopened on 5th April.
We appreciate your loyalty, patience and organizational skills which have been amazing with some very active WhatsApp groups!
Up until now, for safety reasons, we have only been operating with court hires and lessons, however, we feel the time is right to reintroduce the social mix-in doubles to our programme.
We will try our best to include everyone and keep it as safe as possible.
We are excited and looking forward to welcoming our friends back from overseas and to enjoy playing tennis together again.

Hi everyone,
Great news we are allowed to play tennis again!😊
From Monday 5th April, the tennis centre will be reopening for lessons, hits and court hires.
The Jardin do Golfe team look forward to seeing all our friends and tennis family back on the courts in the sunshine! 😎❤️

Hi everyone,
Portugal is now entering its fourth week of lockdown (State of Emergency). Although the Covid cases have started to drop we are still unable to play tennis. The tennis courts are so quiet - we are missing all our friends from around the world. However, when it is safe to do so we will be back playing.
In the meantime stay safe, healthy and enjoy the return of the Algarve sunshine.

Hi everyone,
As of midnight tonight Portugal enters a lockdown period of two weeks. Therefore, the Tennis Centre will be closing until the numbers of Covid cases drop and we are allowed to reopen safely and enjoy playing our tennis.
Thank you everyone for your loyal support throughout these terrible and difficult times.
As soon as it is possible we look forward to welcoming you all back on the courts again.

Court Update!
The top court is finished and just needs the net up!
Bottom court is under way - carpet has been lifted up, so just waiting for some repairs to dry in the sun before the new carpet is laid.

What a difference a day makes!
The tennis centre will be closed from 16th December until after Christmas as we are resurfacing courts 1 and 3.
Thank you to Albany for your sponsorship and kindness which has enabled us to go forward with this project.
We look forward to welcoming all our friends, from near and far, back laughing and playing on the new courts in 2021.

Hi everyone,
As of today we are back in a state of calamity! This doesnt change too much for us except a maximum of five at a table.
We can still do our regular programme but would continue to ask everyone to use common sense and respect others.
We look forward to normality returning one day but at least we are still all able to play our tennis safely in the sun.
