I had an amazing time on the beach with my friends and the time just flew. Luckily the summer just started so we will have many days just like yesterday. I got some comments that I am all the time in a swimming suit (even if it is a suitable dress code for the beach). But that's real life in Portugal during summer. We only care about the beach and nothing else meter and most of our free time will be on the beach. So if you ask me whats new-nothing much just beaching. How about you? This beautiful beach is just one train away from Cais de Sodre and will take you 20 minutes of drive to get there. The train stop is Caxias and you just need to pass the street.

Finally, beach days have come🥰I was testing the beach in Caxias and must say it is very good. Plus you will have a beach bar Bahia there. Food is so so but the view and live music will hit right on the spot. One of the advantages is that is closer to Lisbon and you will be on the beach in 20 mins by train.

Some places give you wings to fly. For me that is Carvoeiro. In this charming place, I decided to start over. I closed my business in Serbia and chose to change my postcode to Portugal. Here I created my first home outside of my hometown and worked as a waitress even though I never had the experience in that area. When I came for the first time in April 2017, Carvoeiro welcomed me with beautiful weather and amazing beaches. So my plan to spend only 2 weeks in Portugal quickly changed. So I stayed. What was the place that motivated you to do something new or to start over?

This cute house is one of Madeira’s trademarks. Santana city center is the best place on the island to observe the traditional houses. Since that is on the opposite side of the island from Funchal, we were very happy to find them as well in the botanical garden. So if you would like to see Santana house too, you don't need to travel to Santana, just make sure to visit Monte Palace Tropical Garden. Have you ever seen them?

Cascais is the best place to live. So they say... Let’s speak about renting in Portugal. Once Portuguese were happy and always smiling but now I only see sad and worried faces on the street. Why? Well, the standard of life drops drastically. The people cannot pay their bills. Rents are so high that a typical Portuguese family could not afford them. Rent in Cascais for T 1 will be around 1000 e plus you need to add bills on that. The same situation is in Lisbon. A little better apartment will be around 1500-2000 e. Considering that the average salary in Lisbon is 800-1000 e after taxing in a family of 2 working members it is almost impossible to pay. If you live alone in Lisbon, you will be forced to rent a room, so a shared apartment would be from 400 e and higher. You can choose Amadora, Almada, or Sintra for a more affordable rent. On the other hand, if you are a digital nomad or you have your own business and you don't make the salary in Portugal, Cascais can offer you beautiful weather and, a calm and safe environment.

To meet Madeira, let's start with her biggest city. Funchal is the capital city of Portugal's Madeira archipelago. The city has a population of 105,795, making it the sixth-largest city in Portugal. We chose to book our hotel right there.😍Why? Well, this city has the best transport connection, so if you do not plan to rent a car, you can go to the other part of the island by bus. Since it is the biggest city there are plenty of things to do and see if you choose to stay just here. Great parks and amazing restaurants (they do have a lot of them, and they are all full). Usually, the main city organizes many events during the season so you will have many options. 😍We loved their wine event. I was able to try different wines produced in Madeira. You will be able to speak with the owners and they will explain the process and give you a closer look at their brand. If you are up for an active vacation always choose bigger places to stay and if you choose to relax, pick so smaller one where you will be able to relax. In general, you have a feeling that you are in small Portugal. 🇵🇹

Did you know that the western point of Europe is between Sintra and Cascais? Cabo da Roca should be on your list if you are visiting Lisbon. This place left the biggest wow effect on me. Cabo da Roca was considered as the end of the world and you will feel like you are at the end of the world when you are there.
How to get to Cabo da Roca?
•From Lisbon•The best way to reach Cabo da Roca from Lisbon is by car. It will take 30 minutes to get there. Or you can use public transport. You can take buses 035 and 403 or go by train to Sintra or Cascais, and then continue from there.
•From Sintra• Getting to Cabo da Roca from Sintra by car takes just 20 minutes. Bus 403 will also get you there.
•From Cascais•The drive from Cascais to Cabo da Roca will only take about 15-20 minutes. Or bus 403.
Tip: Always bring a jacket because here can be very windy. If you are planning to hike- bring comfortable shoes.

People often ask me what are my plans for the summer. I love summer time in Portugal so during that time I will not travel anywhere. On a day off you can go to a place close by where you usually don't go and have a good time. The best thing about living in Portugal is that you are feeling you are on vacation all time. The Palace of Monserrate is a masterpiece of Romanticism and totally worth of visit. Once you are in Sitra, you will have many options and a lot of castles to visit. The first two for sure are Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira (my personal favorite)but we can not skip this beauty too. The entrance to the palace and park is 8 e. This palace is not as popular as the other two so you can truly enjoy the walk in the beautiful park. The visit will last around two hours and involves a significant amount of walking so please wear comfortable shoes. Don't be like Ivana😂

One of the day tours in Lisbon for sure must be to Cascais. This super charming town has a lot to offer. Usually, tours are planned so that in one-day tourist visit Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and at the end Cascais. If you ask me that is a very stressful and super dynamic tour and nothing like Portugal is. I advise you to split this tour into two days and enjoy one full day on the beach, walking in the old town, eating some Portuguese dishes, and enjoying in the moment.

Beach days started. 🏖️😍 What that means in Portugal? People will work less and less and will try to use every spare moment to spend it on the beach. Having that in mind a new train strike started 1st of April and will be until the end of the month. For now, they announce that on the 6th Of April will not be any trains and after midnight they will stop working. During the day some of the trains are not going, mostly in time for a lunch break(13-15h).

Must do in the Azores- taking a thermal bath in Furnas, a little town inside a volcanic crater. 😍Although the Furnas volcano last erupted in 1630, you can feel, see and smell the geothermal activity all around you in the form of steaming fumaroles, thermal pools, and natural mineral springs around every corner. There are a couple of places in this town where you can relax and have a hot bath but our choice was to try Poça da Dona Beija, and we loved it!❤️
What do you need to know before coming?
Bring an old or dark-colored swimsuit (water leaves yellow marks)
Bring slippers, and bring a towel (or rent one)
If you are coming in the summertime, consider a night bath since the temperature of the water is up to 39C.

Hidden gem of Europe-Azores islands. If you are looking for an exotic destination and you don’t want to bankrupt meantime, consider a trip to the Azores. Azores island is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and is still not exploited for mass tourism. I took this trip to see for the first time a black-sanded beach but the island surprised me with its extraordinary landscape, great food, and amazing people. 😍 More information regarding the trip you can find in the highlight Azores.⬆️

If you ever come to Aveiro, I am recommending a boat tour. Like that, you will see the best part of this city and this tour will be the highlight of your visit.
The delightful “Moliceiros” boats, similar in design to gondolas, are painted in bright colors and have motifs that depict scenes from the town’s history. These boats, originally used to harvest seaweed, now serve the purpose of transporting tourists around the town’s canals.
Travel tip: Aveiro is a great one-day trip from Porto. 😍

One of the places that you should not miss in the Algarve for sure is Ponta da Piedade in Lagos. You can take a boat tour, kayak tour, or just come to enjoy the view. For all photographers out there: This is the perfect spot for amazing pictures. 😍

Praia dos Estudantes and her famous Roman-style bridge that connects two rock formations. It used to be part of the fortress of Pinhão, which doesn’t exist anymore. Even though it is called Student Beach the beach is popular among all ages. There is a restaurant on top of the cliffs called Mar Restaurante Bar. The restaurant has an amazing view, so I recommend some drinks or a meal there. I was eating one of the best fish soups right there. 😍

2 ways to reach this beach:

Go to Praia da Batata and walk all the way to the end. You will see a tunnel which goes directly to Praia dos Estudantes.
Walk towards Mar Restaurant. You will see a stairway directly leading down to Estudantes beach.
Save it for a future trip to Lagos😍

The most instagrammable beach in Portugal is Prainha in Alvor, Algarve. Any picture you take here will look like a cover for some travel magazine. Save it for your next trip to Portugal. You will not regret it!

Whenever you plan to go to Sintra, consider her just like a girl in PMS. You will never know what you will get. Can be an amazing day but the weather can change completely in just a few minutes. Be prepared because can be colder than in Lisbon. Make sure to put Sintra on your wish list when you are in Lisbon. Visit her not just because of the castles, Sitra’s beaches are worth of visit, too. One of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal is right here. The name of this one is Praia Grande or The Big Beach. Save this post to keep the location.⬆️

Some days I do feel I live my life like on the move😍 The stage is just perfect. This beautiful beach is in Caxias in Portugal, just 10 mins train ride from Lisbon. Super easy to find and you will not regret it. Putting the location ⬆️ so that you can save it for your next trip to Lisbon. Just please, ignore the fact that in the location it is written Potugal instead of Portugal.🙈

There is always a way out and know that you are not alone! Today is World Su***de Prevention Day and on this day I want to encourage you to prevent it. Speak! It is ok to say that you are down and that you need help. Speak with your friends, and family or look for professional help. After all, they are professional and they will show you the way. We all have are good and bad moments in life and, trust me the bad ones do pass as well. So, please if you ever think that there is no way out, to seek help, someone will show you! A lot of people ask me-What about beaches in Portugal? Let me put it this way- many beaches in Portugal are set up as wallpaper on a windows screen saver. This country is blessed by the 832 km coastline. All the beaches here are unique and different. They have amazing landscapes. The color of the sand can be white, yellow, grey... For me, the best ones are in Algarve. The great thing about this country is that they are so different from one place to other so you can not be bored with the view. This one is in Estoril, Portugal.

How to get from Lisbon to Cascais? By train.😍Go to Cais do Sodre station. The round-trip ticket is 4, 5 e. From this station the only train connection is Lisbon-Cascais. The train goes on every 20 minutes and it is 40 minutes ride. The last stop is in Cascais. Try to sit on the left side to enjoy the ocean view during your ride. The train company often goes on strike so if you wish to know more information about the schedule you can always look at their webpage cp.pt. The Church of Santa Engrácia is a 17th-century monument in Lisbon, Portugal. Originally a church, it was converted into the National Pantheon in which important Portuguese personalities are buried. The church was constructed in the 17th century but not completed until the 20th century, so constructing has become a Portuguese synonym for an endless construction project. Did you know that Madeira’s airport has the most dangerous runway? The airport is famous for its short runway, surrounded by high mountains and the ocean, making it a difficult and technically demanding landing for even the most experienced pilots. The pilots need special training to land there. I didn't know that before landing.😅I must admit it is a dramatic view of the mountains, but it was a perfect landing and no reason for fear. Christmas market in Lisbon😍December is a great time to visit Lisbon. Why? Beautiful decoration all over the city and on top of it is great weather.
