During the "cooler months", broadly speaking from November to early March, we love to walk along the clifftop trails that lie due east of Praia da Marinha., all the way to Senhora da Rocha. This is the perfect walk for those who enjoy a stroll in nature, taking in the amazing seaviews, visiting some of the beaches which have access from land, visiting by boat/kayak/SUP those beaches that don't... or even enjoying a swim - for those who are brave enough and do not feel cold. Enjoying perfect weather in November!

This trail takes about 1 hour there and another hour to come back to Casa Velha Videira.

In late August/early September, Lagoa hosts a fair for the sale of cakes which have traditionally been made in convents over the years. Most of these are made with eggs. This is the perfect opportunity to taste cakes, pastry and sweets from the different regions of Portugal, namely the well-known egg based cakes and pastry from Alcobaça, the delicious sweets from Évora, pastéis de Tentugal or even the Florados de Lagoa. Yum! The perfect days to visit the beautiful Convento de São José in Lagoa, which hosts this event.

Casa Velha Videira, in English the house of the old vine, is a gorgeous 4 bedroom villa located in Caramujeira. The old adega (wine cellar) where wine was still produced until recently, is only a few minutes away.

Sometimes all you need is a day off to relax and reset… so we drove off to the mountains in Caldas de Monchique to spend the day at the spa. What a fabulous time we had!

During the summer Lagoa hosts several events, including weekly walks at night. Tonight there was a 6km walk in and around the beautiful town of Ferragudo. Anyone can join - you simply have to sign up with the town hall. You get a free t-shirt. Fantastic atmosphere!
