Veggie appetizer (to maximize the use of an heating oven for a dessert).

Roasted sliced cauliflower (keep the chunks thick) and lemon (in vertical quarters please) seasoned with paprika, salt and olive oil. Give it a shake now and then and before serving squeeze the lemon over the roast and mix it.

The roasted lemon acquires a surprisingly different taste that will bring this vegetable - which in Portugal is generally just boiled - to another level;)

Clover - one of the spices which inspired Portuguese to find a maritime route to India. Orange - a fruit introduced to several regions in Europe by Portuguese merchants. Both infused in sugar syrup to achieve a simple yet sophisticated winter dessert.
