Immigrants denied residency by AIMA may be sent away from Portugal.

Immigrants denied residency by AIMA may be sent away from Portugal
Immigrants whose applications for residence permits in Portugal have been rejected by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) may be asked to voluntarily leave the country. According to experts interviewed by PÚBLICO Brasil, this is the last — and sad — stage of the process. According to calculations by the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, António Leitão Amaro, of the 221,000 residence permit applications analyzed in the first three months of the task force that began at the Hindu Center in Lisbon, 108,000 were rejected, most of them due to failure to pay the required fees, such as biometrics.

‼️LISBON - CARRIS TICKETS CAN NOW BE PAID ON BOARD WITH “CONTACTLESS” BANK CARD‼️
🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹💚🟡❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
🟡 From today (20th November) onwards, the transport company Carris accepts payments on board with contactless bank cards or devices with NFC technology, also allowing the purchase of travel tickets for groups of up to 10 people, the company announced.

🟡 In a statement, Carris explains that it is now possible to pay for journeys using a contactless card on buses, trams and the three funiculars in the city of Lisbon.

🟡 "This is a historic day for Carris and for mobility in the city of Lisbon. With the introduction of payment by bank card, we reinforce our commitment to improving the travel experience of our customers, thus ensuring greater convenience and better accessibility in the use of our service", says the president of Carris, Pedro Bogas, quoted in the note.

🟡 The new payment option also allows the purchase of travel tickets for families or small groups, up to a maximum of 10 people, by directly selecting the number of tickets required. "The option to pay by bank card applies to the purchase of the onboard fare, so each purchase is only valid for that trip", says the company.

🟡 More information about this new payment method can be found at https://comoviajar.alx.carris.pt/

Carris is a company that provides public surface urban passenger transport services in Lisbon, and is managed by the capital's City Council.

‼️Portugal has “a chronic lack of labour” that “is only compensated by foreigners”‼️
🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹💚🟡❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
🟡Entrepreneurs in the hotel industry, agriculture and construction in Portugal are worried about the lack of labour and are still waiting for the promises of the return of the flow of immigrants, suspended with the end of expressions of interest in June.
🟡 Portugal has “a chronic lack of labour” that “is only compensated by foreigners”, the president of the Portuguese Farmers Confederation told Lusa, considering that the end of expressions of interest - a legal resource that allowed regularisation to anyone who arrived on a tourist visa and started working - showed how much immigrants are missing from the Portuguese economic fabric.

🟡 “In recent months, we have seen a recognition of this reality. I think that today all parties recognise that the Portuguese economy needs foreign labour, which did not happen a few months ago”, said Álvaro Mendonça e Moura.

🟡 However, “we have to create conditions in the country to welcome people with dignity” and it is also necessary to “put into operation the State bodies competent in this matter”, said the former ambassador, who highlighted the hiring of 50 employees for the General Directorate of Consular Affairs, to be placed in emigrant issuing posts.
🟡 “The process is underway, this is already moving” and “I understand that there is a space of months here” until “things start to work”, stated the leader who also asks for more “speed” from the Integration Agency, Migrations and Asylum (AIMA) in the management of pending cases.

🟡The president of CAP praised parliament's recent decision to create “a transitional regime”, which allows the regularisation of those who were already in Portugal but did not yet meet all the requirements for the request for expression of interest.

🟡“There were people in Portugal who were paying into social security, in some cases they were even paying taxes and then were unable to regularise their situation”, he recalls.

Tourism

🟡 With regard to the hotel and tourism sectors there are “peaks in seasonality and production”, so for now “there is still no direct effect of the expressions of interest having ended”, said Rita Siza Vieira, vice-president, of the Portuguese Hotel Association (AHP).
🟡 However, the country is experiencing a “blockade in the entry of staff”, which can cause serious damage to labour-intensive sectors that need to maintain a response to market demand.

🟡 “Around 30% of our workers are immigrants, they are working, they are fit and contextualised”, but it is necessary to “maintain the hiring flow” to meet tourist demand.

🟡 The hotel industry has “cross-cutting needs” for labour, he said, commenting on the possibility of each sector establishing hiring quotas, requested by the Chega party.

🟡 “This is a need that affects all levels of functions and qualifications”, stated the leader, who demanded that the Government create a model for identifying staff from consulates that ensures “a security regime, but with speed and transparency”, to respond to economic operators.

‼️Carris Metropolitana will allow you to use your Navegante pass directly on your mobile phone in 2025‼️
🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹💚🟡❤️🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
🟡 The operation that brought together several operators in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, has just launched a website with new features and is preparing new developments that will make using buses easier for the 170 million passengers who will use this public transport service in 2024. Among them, the possibility of using the monthly pass directly on the mobile phone, without the need for a physical card.

🟡 By the end of the first half of 2025, passengers will be able to purchase travel tickets simply by placing their bank card near a validation machine inside the vehicles, as is already the case on the Lisbon Metro (AML).
🟡 Additionally, the company is developing the virtualization of the Navegante card on mobile phones, which will eliminate the need for users of transport in the AML , including trains, boats and the metro, to carry the “pass” with them. This technology will also come into use in the first half of next year.

‼️FIRES: AROUND 135 THOUSAND HECTARES BURNED BETWEEN SUNDAY AND FRIDAY‼️
🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹❤️🟡💚🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
🟡Between Sunday 15th and Friday 20th September, forest fires consumed around 135,000 hectares, bringing the total area burned in Portugal this year to almost 147,000 hectares, the third largest of the decade, according to the European Copernicus system.

🟡The areas most affected by the fires in recent days are the region of Viseu Dão Lafões, with an area consumed by the flames of over 52,000 hectares, Tâmega and Sousa (over 25,000 hectares), the Aveiro Region (over 24,000 hectares), followed by the Metropolitan Area of Porto, Alta Tâmega and Ave, with a burnt area of over nine thousand hectares each.

🟡According to the European Earth observation system Copernicus, which uses satellite images with spatial resolution of 20 meters and 250 meters, the area burned since Sunday has reached 135,752 hectares.

🟡In total, 146,649 hectares have burned in Portugal this year, with the country going, in one week, from the best burnt area figures of the decade to the third worst since 2014, only being surpassed in 2017 (563,000 hectares) and 2016 (165,000).

🟡Compared to the other countries in the European Union, Portugal is at the top of the table this year in terms of percentage of burnt area, followed by Cyprus, Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece.

🟡The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) has not recorded any significant fire incidents today, although there are still resources on the ground, namely 226 operatives and two aerial resources in the fire in the Castro Daire region (Viseu).

‼️THREE FIREFIGHTERS DIE AFTER FIRE ENGINE ACCIDENT ON WAY TO FIRE‼️
🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹❤️🟡💚🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
🟡Three firefighters lost their lives in Tábuas after a fire-fighting vehicle skidded off the road and caught fire. The information was confirmed by the Portuguese Firefighters League. “We know that the team was involved in fighting the fire, but it is not yet clear whether they were leaving or entering one of the fronts, only that the car was caught in the fire in the front area”, said António Nunes, president of the LBP.

🟡The firefighters who died this morning were involved in fighting the Nelas fire and belonged to the Vila Nova de Oliveirinha fire brigade. The vehicle had crossed the river to fight one of the fronts of the fire, in the municipality of Oliveira do Hospital “when it was surprised by the advancing flames”, revealed a director of the Lagares da Beira Fire Brigade. At this time the fire “is in Seixo da Beira, going down to Carregal do Sal”, said that director.

🟡 With this accident, there are now 7 deaths in forest fires since Friday, four firefighters and three civilians.

🟡These are some images of those fighting the flames in Albergaria-a-Velha, where 2 people have already died 💔😭

🟡It started in Paços de Ferreira but quickly spread to the municipality of Santo Tirso.

🟡More specifically, in Roriz, the area where the fire is raging is large. The images are absolutely impressive.
