Holiday accommodation, camping, activityweeks Monte Maravilhas is a 22 acres estate situated in the Baixo-Alentejo, South of Portugal.

The property features 3 houses for rent: Casa Amarela, Casa Mimosa and Casa Azul. We also have a small campingsite, where you can rent a caravan, bring your own small camper or tent. We organize different activity weeks: hiking, massage & meditation, yoga, painting and Portuguese language. It is also possible to come for an individual hiking holidays, maps and descriptions are available.

Arupa loves working in our garden and everything with green! We are happy with our veggie garden, and it is a joy we can eat from it again.
The taste is so much more pure, growing your own veggies🤩
We have grapes (sweet like honey) pepers, cherry tomatoes, leek, pumpkin, cucumber and many more figes and kiwi's.

Our CORK TREES have been stripped again, look the beautiful dark brown/red colour of the trunk.

Cork trees live on average 200 years, but there are also cork trees that are 500 years old🌳.

The cork is in the bark of the tree that is extracted every 10 years.
Did you know that around 70% of all cork is used for wine bottle caps.
In Portugal they produce 40 million wine corks per day!

A painting holiday in a beautiful place in Portugal!
Do you feel like a creative holiday in the beautiful Portuguese Alentejo? Would you like to enjoy inspiring painting workshops with your painting easel in the middle of nature?

Then treat yourself to a painting holiday in Sao Martinho das Amoreiras. A typically picturesque village that is home to the beautiful Monte Maravilhas valley.

The painting holiday is guided by visual artist William Emans, a graduate of Minerva Academy in Groningen, The Netherlands. William has organised and guided various art activities . William has a great love for art. This combination makes him the suitable art teacher. He has a gentle and soft approach, which fits perfectly into the week you will experience here. He is always ready to guide you and give you new techniques that will positively influence your works.

PAINTING HOLIDAY 8 -15 JUNE

William: “It is not about the result, but about the realization and getting in touch with your inner creativity.”

A painting holiday in Portugal at Monte Maravilhas is a special experience. The rustic estate is a true inspiration with its hills, cork and fruit trees. The calmness and the tranquillity provide a good platform to get your creative process growing. It’s in this silence that you will be able to clear your mind and this will benefit your artistic work.

You can paint or sketch using any technique and any materials you like. The group will consist of 8 persons at most. William, a gifted Dutch painter and an inspiring teacher, and is happy to support and coach the students during the painting week. The course is for beginners and for advanced students.

Summer, we are ready for you! During the summer our vegetable garden is always thirsty. This year we decided to get rid of the sprinklers and give a more direct and subtle flow into the soil. This makes that water doesn't get spilled, and that the roots are almost directly watered. And we are enjoying our lovely vegetables already!

Our Christmas Hiking week has started and we are happy to share some Maravilhas Holiday Spirit with our guests! While they are hiking we will make sure they have everything they need. Amazing food, good company, glühwein, and more!
