All we can do, is to try to organise some help.
But it's not that easy when you're on an island.
PLEASE let us know if you know any transport company that could bring material (benevole) from Luxembourg, Belgium or so to Madeira, we will organise everything else! 🙏❤️

Everybody knows Madeira wine.
But do you know poncha?
It is the most popular drink on the island 🍹

All you need is:
-1 cup of Aguardente (Cachaça, Rum)
-2-3 tablespoons of honey
-1 lemon
-1 orange

Unlike today, the traditional poncha was made with aguardente, lemon juice and honey->without oranges.
The origin of poncha goes back to the 16th century. The discoverers transported lemon, source of vitamin C, during their trips to prevent scurvy. To preserve the lemon, they carried it soaked in a mix of sugar cane brandy and blackstrap molasses produced in Madeira.

The natural swimming pools at Porto Moniz are formed by volcanic lava, naturally filled with crystal-clear sea water.

Yesterday we talked about wine.
Today: The absolutely delicious "Bolo do caco" 🍠

It's sunday->do something good for yourself and try this recipe.

Ingredients:
-1000 gr of flour
-750 gr of sweet potatoes
-2 tablespoons (28 gr) of baker's yeast
-1 pinch of salt
-Water (150 ml)

1. Peel the potatoes, boil them in water and reduce them to puree.
2. Add the yeast into a little water (aprox 150 ml) and add the salt as well.
3. Place the flour on a clean surface, open a hole in the middle and place the sweet potatoes and yeast.
4. Knead well and let the dough ferment for 2 to 3 hours.
5. Divide the dough into small portions and flatten them (on a floured surface).
6. Then cook the caco cakes on a hot skillet on both sides.

Suggestion: You can cut the cakes in the middle, brush them with garlic butter and sprinkle them with chopped parsley and a little salt. 🤤
