Lovely house close to the beach and town
This 3-storey Sao Martinho do Porto townhouse is in a great location, just around the corner from the cobbled old town (minimart, bakery, butcher and fresh produce market), and in a peaceful spot although only a few minutes’ walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. After a hard day at the beach, if you don’t want to walk back up the hill, there’s an elevator nearby that operates between the beach and old town levels – so handy for anyone with small children or people with limited mobility.
The house has flexible accommodation for up to 8 people:
Lower floor: Small lounge with double sofa-bed and TV, bedroom with two single beds, and shower room. There is also a small utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board. This floor has its own entrance and is suited to older people as it is all on one level. It’s also great for members of your party who may wish to stay out late, or older children who can use the lounge as a ‘den’.
Middle floor: This also has its own entrance at the rear of the property, with a courtyard which gets the sun all morning, and has a BBQ and table and chairs. The entrance leads to a well-stocked kitchen which is open plan to a large dining area with a big table, dining chairs and also a sofa. This leads to a comfortable lounge with TV (plenty of channels, also free wifi) and wood-burning stove, and double doors onto a balcony which has sunshine from mid-morning until evening, and has a table and chairs. Sunshades and two sun loungers are provided. A DVD player, a selection of DVDs, board games and books are available to guests. There is also a toilet on this level.
Top floor: Two double bedrooms, both with their own balconies and plenty of storage. Large bathroom with bath and shower over.
Guests have access to a swimming pool (at the top of the row of houses) which is shared with the other condominium properties.
About the area:
Sao Martinho is a pretty town on a crescent-shaped bay, with a long sandy beach and boardwalk. There are plenty of great cafes, restaurants and bars to choose from. The town has not been spoilt by tourism and retains its Portuguese identity. The supermarket is just 2 minutes' drive away.
Beaches: Sao Martinho is on the Silver Coast, so there are so many beautiful beaches to choose from. Sao Martinho and Foz do Arelho (15km) are great safe beaches for families, and many other beaches (including Nazare 15km, Baleal and Peniche 50km) are also a short drive away. Surfing, windsurfing, and other water sports are widely available throughout the area.
Golf: 4 excellent courses 30 minutes’ drive from the house. It's a great area for walking, cycling and bird-watching, also horse riding, hang-gliding and paragliding.
There are so many beautiful towns, cities and places of cultural interest within driving distance for short visits or day trips: The stunning medieval town of Obidos (20 mins), Alcobaca (town with 11th century Monastery - 25 mins), Lisbon, Sintra and Coimbra (about an hour), Aveiro (90 mins) and Porto (2 hours).
Access: Please note this property is not suitable for those needing to use a wheelchair indoors as the corridor is narrow and stairs lead to the lounge and dining areas. It is suitable for those with limited mobility as it is a level short walk to the elevator which takes you down to the beach level.
Lisbon airport (1 hour), Porto airport (2 hours). Also a regular bus service (with free wifi and aircon) to/from Lisbon.
