WILDLIFE PORTUGAL is a portuguese nature tourism and wildlife photography business, operating in Portugal. WILDLIFE PORTUGAL organizes specific programs for the observation and interpretation of nature (birdwatching, for example), hiking, photographic tours and wildlife photography – in particular through photographic hides. In this sense, WILDLIFE PORTUGAL has created and is managing a set of pho

tographic hides for wildlife in the Greater Côa Valley, a rewilding area. WILDLIFE PORTUGAL also has the support and backing of Rewilding Europe, a European foundation whose mission is to promote the creation of more spaces for wildlife and to promote nature tourism in these natural areas. Certificated as a tour-operator by the Portuguese Government with the reference 248/2016, WILDLIFE PORTUGAL is also recognized for nature tourism, as most of its activities take place almost exclusively in the National Network of Protected Areas, particularly in the natural parks of Estrela Mountain, Douro International river, Tejo international river and the Greater Côa Valley rewilding area.

The Western Subalpine Warbler (Sylvia iberiae) is a rather common bird in the Greater Côa Valley. Arriving in the beggining of the Spring, it's easy to hear it and spot it, perched on bushes and smaller trees.
While exploring the rewilding areas, this and other mediterranean warblers are possible to see, highlighting the diversity of wildlife.

Ermo das Águias is the largest rewilding area of the Greater Côa Valley (Portugal) and it is managed by . 600ha along the left side of the Côa River, provide refuge for wildlife while the landscape is under the management of a few Sorraia horses - that do a natural grazing.

A century old Pyrenean Oak thrives on the Greater Côa Valley, hiden in a younger forest of its relatives, recovering their natural distribution after man abandoned the landscape and rural activities. These days we've been increasing our knowledge of the Geopark Oeste, during a specific training for geoguides, promoted by AGEO - Associação Geoparque Oeste and Turismo de Portugal. Mainly focus on the geology, palaeontology, geomorfology, landscape interpretation, but also the history and the culture of the region. Well worth it! At Ermo das Águias rewilding area, in the Greater Côa Valley, the small herd of Sorraia horses are doing an important management of the vegetation, grazing freely, and open more clearings and paths through the dense broom cover. From the lower meadows they naturally move to other areas of the reserve, also in altitude. This natural and sustainable grazing is promoting an increase on biodiversity, with more abundance of flowering plants, insects and birds. In this sense, WILDLIFE PORTUGAL has created and is managing a set of photographic hides for wildlife in Faia Brava Reserve, a private protected area with which it has a cooperation agreement. WILDLIFE PORTUGAL also has the support and backing of Rewilding Europe, a European foundation whose mission is to promote the creation of more spaces for wildlife and to promote nature tourism in these natural areas. Certificated as a tour-operator by the Portuguese Government with the reference 248/2016, WILDLIFE PORTUGAL is also recognized for nature tourism, as most of its activities take place in the National Network of Protected Areas, particularly in the natural parks of Estrela Mountain, Douro Internacional, Tejo Internacional, Faia Brava Private Protected Area and Malcata Mountain Nature Reserve.
