🇵🇹 [Última actualização: 20 de Setembro] O incêndio que lavrou no dia 11 de Setembro na região de São Luís afectou alguns dos trilhos pedestres e cicláveis da Rota Vicentina. Todas as sinaléticas dos percursos pedestres e cicláveis foram entretanto repostas, pelo que pode continuar tranquilamente as suas caminhadas e pedaladas

🇬🇧 [Last updated: September 20th] The fire of last September 11 in Sao Luis, affected some of pedestrian and bike trails of the Rota Vicentina. All signals of the walking and cycling trails has been replaced, so you can continue your way freely!

Rota Vicentina totals 450 km of hiking routes. Located in SW Portugal, the Costa Vicentina is the most beautiful coastal area of southern Europe.

Besides the natural beauty there will be another distraction on the Fishermen's Trail from Porto Covo to Vila Nova de Milfontes tomorrow, 22nd June.

No dia 22 de junho, realiza-se a 4.ª Etapa do Campeonato Nacional de Canoagem SURFSKI - SW Alentejano, que contará com a participação de 154 atletas de 20 clubes, 124 embarcações, para a ligação por mar entre a praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro a praia da Franquia em Vila Nova de Milfontes.

A prova tem partida agendada para as 14.00 horas na Praia da Ilha do Pessegueiro e com chegada a partir das 17.00 horas, na Praia da Franquia, em Vila Nova de Milfontes. Em prova estarão vários escalões etários, masculinos e femininos. No final haverá festa convívio para todos os atletas e a cerimónia de entrega de prémios, na Praia da Franquia, em Vila Nova de Milfontes.

A organização da prova é da responsabilidade da Federação Portuguesa de Canoagem, Município de Odemira, Município de Sines, Clube Fluvial Odemirense, Clube Náutico de Milfontes e Clube Náutico do Litoral Alentejano, com o apoio da Junta de Freguesia de Vila Nova de Milfontes e Junta de Freguesia de Porto Covo.

Tomorrow, 10th May, just two days before the Rota Vicentina's 7th birthday, many new trails in the region will be unveiled. In the coming weeks we will be announcing new walking programmes to enable hikers to enjoy these trails to the full.

Alerta caminhantes!
A Rota Vicentina encontra-se numa fase de transição, estamos a preparar novos trilhos pedestres a serem lançados já no próximo mês de Maio. Estes estão neste momento a ser marcados no terreno, pelo que é possível que encontrem no terreno novas marcas ou algumas alterações aos trilhos actuais, que ainda não estão no site e materiais impressos.

Resumidamente estão a ser marcados:
- novos percursos circulares;
- etapas novas no Trilho dos Pescadores, essencialmente na parte algarvia, que agora se estende até Lagos;
- uma etapa nova de ligação do Caminho Histórico à Estação de Comboios de Sabóia (entre Odemira e Sabóia / Santa Clara);
- uma alteração na ligação do Caminho Histórico ao Trilho dos Pescadores (entre Cercal e Porto Covo);
- dois circuitos de Trilho dos Pescadores: “Praia da Amoreira" e "Pontal da Carrapateira" que foram transformados em percursos circulares, passando a estar marcados a vermelho e amarelo.

Rota Vicentina is in transition stage as we prepare to offer new walking trails. These are being currently marked in the field, therefore you may find on the field new marks or some changes in the current tracks, that are not yet on our website and printed materials.

In brief, we are marking:
- new circular routes;
- new sections of the Fishermen’s Trail, mostly in the Algarve region, now extending to Lagos;
- a new section of the Historical Way connecting to Sabóia Train Station (between Odemira and Sabóia / Santa Clara);
- a change in part of the section of the Historical way connecting to the Fishermen’s Trail (between Cercal and Porto Covo;
- the former Fishermen’s Trail circuits “Amoreira beach" and "Pontal da Carrapateira” transformed into circular routes, now marked in red and yellow.

Detailed information about each of the trails will be coming soon!

IMPORTANT WARNING.

The Historical Way route between Porto Covo and Cercal do Alentejo has been changed. The current official published information, such as the map, guide book, .gpx files and on-line information have not been updated, so they do not match the markers on the ground.

The route no longer runs parallel to the Fishermen's Trail between Porto Covo and Forte da Ilha, so the alternative that is suggested in the route description is no longer possible. All markings on the old route have been obliterated.

TOP TIP. Always ask for an official receipt for any purchases, particularly from bars and restaurants, which are legally required to do so. With a receipt, you can be sure that you have not been overcharged at a "tourist" rate and that you have not aided and abetted the vendor in tax fraud.

TOP TIP. When walking on the Fishermen's Trail take time to empty the sand from your boots and socks as soon as you feel it, otherwise blisters are inevitable. Take an extra pair of socks in your daypack. Better still wear sand/debris gaiters as suggested by Cindy Metsker in her comment.

TOP TIP. When booking your accommodation, check how far it actually is from the trail. The description of "near the Rota Vicentina" may mean 5 kms or even more, that's a lot of extra distance to walk or a taxi fare to pay. Alternatively book a whole package with an operator such as http://ramblintrails.com/destinations/portugal/rota%20vicentina/index.html that uses accommodation directly on the trail or within a few hundred metres.

Ramblin'trails probably offers the widest choice of self-guided walking holidays along the Rota Vicentina in south west Portugal.

-O Comboio Intercidades IC 670, da viagem Faro-Lisboa, que tem partida de Faro pelas 08h22, vai fazer paragem nas Amoreiras-Odemira pelas 9h49 e chegada a Lisboa (Sete Rios) pelas 11h42, Lisboa(Entrecampos) pelas 11h46 e Lisboa (Oriente) pelas 11h56.

LISBOA-FARO
-O Comboio Intercidades IC 574 que faz a viagem Lisboa-Faro, que tem partidas de Lisboa: Lisboa (Oriente) pelas 18h22, Lisboa (Entrecampos) pelas 18h30, Lisboa(Sete Rios) pelas 18h34, terá paragem em Amoreiras-Odemira pelas 20h18.

WARNING. On morning of 20 May 2018 on the stage of the Historical Way "Vale Seco to Cercal" there is a Raid Mountain Bike event with up to 1,500 mountain bikes following about 8 kms of the trail between the Campilhas Dam and the village of Cercal. We suggest that walkers avoid this section from ten until midday.
