Recently is attracting the attention of more tourists to visit the 1000 years old Mourish castle, Cathedral, Saint Francis church, Bone Chappel, to learn about navigators discovery history (Christopher Columbus was here), Santo Antonio street (for shopping in boutiques stores), most beautiful cobblestone in the Algarve, Natural Park of Ria Formosa Lagoon (birdwatching, hiking, MTB, boat tours), salt pans, sunsets and gorgeous islands.

We had the most amazing day touring some of the best and gorgeous places in the Algarve region, a young family from Northern USA learned about the history, traditions, geology, what is locally produced

Algarve region in Portugal is where you want to go for stunning natural views, beaches, cliffs, caves, delicious fresh food with a view and the best chance of good weather

Although it is winter time, with beautiful sunny days, temperatures from 66 to 74°F (19-23°C), been finding many people sunbathing and swimming at the beaches, hiking and cycling

Perfect time to visit the region, no crowds, easy parking, still plenty of hotels and restaurants open

Gorgeous sunset today in Faro, Algarve

✈️ Faro has one of three main International airports in Portugal. Starting next May 2025 will have direct flights from New York to Faro and return

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐨

I hear a lot of tourists asking where to find the locals in the Algarve region and what they do for fun...

To answer your questions here it is one of the main Algarve events: it is the largest and oldest Fair in the region, for eleven days from October 17th to 27th in Faro (the capital of the Algarve) you can have lots of fun.

Gathering over 400 years of history, the event pays tribute to the Saint Iria, naming the fair as "Feira de Santa Iria".

"According to some historians, the Faro Fair began in 1596, during the reign of Philip I, with the aim of encouraging trade and the supply of food and other consumer goods to a population in need due to the looting suffered by the invasion of English troops."

The main fair is in Faro, from here will go along the Algarve towns but in smaller versions.

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝘂𝗮𝘂... 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆!

Heard the Algarve was not just cliffs and beaches, so we went to look for ourselfes

Had the most amazing day on this off the beaten path experience, exploring the Algarve countryside

Started by taking a countryside road along Orange and Avocato trees, heading towards the Medieval town, where we found dozens of storks chealing on their nests, explored the Arab castle and Catholic Cathedral, learned about the Kings, Knight Templars, Roman and Arab civilizations

For lunch delicious Portuguese food and wine with an ocean view, to energize for the short but gorgeous hiking trails. Walked thru a cork tree forest while learning all about the cork. Travelled to the tallest point of the region from where we could spot many coastal towns. Dranked from the Fountain of Youth one of the most alcaline waters of the World, an incredible 9,5 pH... feel so Young and Energized after today!
