We finished our trip and are now back home in Portugal. We stayed in some campsites in Spain that were absolutely free for the last couple of days and enjoyed the ride through the countryside. Very happy to be home.

We left France and entered Spain. Decided to take the route that goes over the Pyrenees mountains at 1,600-meters and passes just south of the tiny country of Andorra. The drive through Catalunya was picturesque. We are loving the greenery and the wide-open spaces. As an added bonus, every campsite in Spain has been free!

Last night we stayed in Fontvieille, France. we also stayed here on the way in to Italy. I really like this campsite. There are trails through the woods. This morning, we walked past several windmills and arrived at a beautiful French chateau.

Our first stop in France was kind of funny. The campsite in Puget-sur-Argens only had us there because they were closing for the season. We thought we could let our dogs cut loose and enjoy the open area. However, this evil bird decided it was going to go for the dogs and would not leave our campsite. I don’t know if it’s some special kind of crow. It’s been an adventure let me just say.

We ended our stay in Italy in a small town called Monteriggioni. We walked from the campsite to a walled town up on a hill. We then drove the following day I till we entered France.

In France, we stopped at the first rest area for gas. Before we even turned off the RV, three police officers approached us and asked if they could search our RV. Of course, we said they could, but that we had to get the four dogs out first. They checked our bathrooms and I think the closets. It was a quick search. No big deal.

We have been driving all over Tuscany now for two days. We have stopped at beautiful campsites. The sunsets and the sunrises are absolutely gorgeous. We even made time to stop at the house where the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” was filmed. The neighbors did not appreciate our big class a camper parked on a very small, narrow road lol. I wish I had gotten a picture of her when she was on the balcony looking at the old man that used to come and put flowers on San Francis little chapel. I did see the balcony though. The food continues to be amazing.

We continued on to Rome. We stayed two nights because we had a mechanic change the oil in the motor home. Scott was amazing getting our large RV into this garage. It was not only on a major street that was very narrow and we had to stop traffic, but it was uphill and the gate was tiny as you go through.

Once that was done, we continued on to Greccio, where St Francis of Assisi started the Franciscan order.

We loved the campsite where we spent the night because we were surrounded by mountains. There was only one other RV in the lot. The whole area was very green with lush grass where my dogs could run free.

We are now going to see a sanctuary to St Francis at the sight where he made the first nativity scene.

Then, we are off to see the highest waterfalls in Europe. I will post pictures when I see them.
