Bubulcus & Bolotas is nature tourism strongly founded on sustainability (RNET 5188) We believe in nature and we believe in sustainability.

We like to offer people the possibility to experience nature with all of their senses. For that we made a camping site with spacious places and with a comfortable holiday home, in the middle of nature. For that we made sure to leave nature as untouched as possible. We also try to be as sustainable as possible. Warm water and electricity are powered by the sun. We pump up and purify our own water.

Obviously, we separate waste streams. We made buildings with high thermal insulation, with expanded cork façades visually merging into the landscape, built on rock for minimal impact on the soil. And we try to share our thoughts with others. That is also, what we will do on FaceBook.

Look up to the sky...
The NGC 4236 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Draco, located about 11.7 million light-years away. Known for its low surface brightness and inactive nucleus, this massive galaxy appears unusually dim, making it a real challenge to observe with home telescopes... but we did it!

The Barbarian grasshopper lives in dry, rocky areas like stony slopes and steppes. It's known for its yellow and black-striped wings. Did you know these locusts can migrate hundreds of kilometres in search of food? That helps them survive when inhabiting extreme arid regions.

Look up to the sky...

and imagine peering into a cosmic snow globe filled with over 100,000 sparkling stars—that's the globular cluster M13 . One of the brightest star clusters visible from the Northern Hemisphere, M13 is located 25,000 light-years from Earth and has a magnitude of 5.8. Nestled in the constellation Hercules, can even be spotted with binoculars. Interestingly, in 1974, the Arecibo Observatory sent a radio message toward M13 as part of an experiment to communicate with potential extraterrestrial civilizations.

The European rhinoceros beetle, named for the horn-like projection on its head, can grow to an impressive length of 60–100 mm, with its size largely dependent on the quality and abundance of its food. These beetles thrive in wood, with their large larvae commonly found in rotting wood stumps. Interestingly, when disturbed, these beetles produce a distinct hissing sound that many find surprisingly loud for such a small creature!

Look up to the sky...

Our first attempt to the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), an emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It spans about 10 light-years and is illuminated by hot, young stars that emit intense ultraviolet radiation, causing the surrounding hydrogen gas to glow brightly. The nebula's shape resembles a pelican's head and neck, hence its name. Can you see it?

Temperaturas acima de 40°C interferem com a capacidade do corpo de regular a sua temperatura interna, através de um aumento da absorção de calor, da diminuição da eficiência dos mecanismos de arrefecimento e do aumento do risco de doenças relacionadas com o calor.

Mantenha-se hidratado, procure sombra ou ambientes mais frescos, e evite atividades ao ar livre durante as horas de maior calor (entre as 12:00 e as 18:00). Se estiver a acampar numa das áreas afetadas, aproveite as noites fantásticas e as manhãs agradáveis. Utilize a parte mais quente do dia para encontrar locais frescos e climatizados, e considere explorar os museus e monumentos da região.

Rainwater is collected from our roofs, filtered, and stored. It is used to compensate for the evaporation losses in our pond and pool. With the shortage of rain this year, and the extreme dry weather conditions, our stored 70 000 l are running short. With everyone´s effort, we hope to keep the systems running until it rains again. The Egyptian mongoose is active during daylight and lets itself be seen, fleetingly. How it got to the Iberian Peninsula is still a question… Traditionally, it was thought to have been introduced in the 8th century following the Muslim invasion. However, a natural colonisation during the Pleistocene across a land bridge is also likely. Either way, its presence is nowadays widespread. They enjoy basking in the morning sun. They are a social species and live in family groups or pairs, defending a territory together. Did you know that the Egyptian mongoose was "Pharaoh's Cat" and considered a holy animal, housed in temples? They are depicted in Egyptian paintings from 300 B.C. and their deceptiveness was highly respected... The badger, with unmistakable wide dark stripes interrupted by white fields along the upper and lateral parts of the neck… It eats roots, fruits, mushrooms, amphibians and reptiles. They are fantastic diggers, making burrows with multiple chambers and entrances where they live in families. Active at night only, they sleep during the day in one of several setts.
