After some days with pouring rain here in Bucharest the sun came out...and had another quick train trip near the city about 30 km away from the outskirts at this place named Fundulea a traditional center of agriculture research in Romania.
So..I jumped into this regional train for short distances. These trains belong to a private company Transport Feroviar Călători used for 100 km distances around Bucharest.
The train is short( 2 coaches) like a tram .
The ticket is 2Euros one way or 7 lei in local currency.
The tickets are to be bought in the train from the controller.
Left Bucharest at 1 PM and was back at 5 PM and spent 3 hours in .

The Shiney warm day pushed me to another trainscape. This time is a train trip from Bucharest to OLTENIȚA. Oltenița is a very small cityport to Danube River 50 km from Bucharest. I chose Oltenița because of the story that links this small city with Bucharest. The story dates back to the 70's when the very well known Romanian Supreme Leader, Ceaușescu intended to link Bucharest to Oltenița through an artificial water channel on 40km distance that would have made Bucharest at his turn a city port to the great Danube. Ceaușescu's regime ended and the project has been abandoned with only some traces of this great idea that we can find today at the outskirts of Bucharest. Ceaușescu's convictions that he can make Bucharest a city port to Danube were encouraged by the geographical facts of the area, the relative short distance from Bucharest to Oltenița and the Dâmbovița river that crosses Bucharest West to South and spills its waters near Oltenița into another river affluent of Danube.
So I left Bucharest and took the Regional Red train that goes along Dâmbovița river to OLTENIȚA www.transferoviarcalatori.ro
Trip in numbers:

Distance: 60 km
Stations: 17 stops
Almost hourly trains leaving both ways
Cost of ticket: 7,5 Ron=1.50euro one way

Back on rails!
I had a day trip with the train from Bucharest to Slănic Salt Mine a 105 km with the regio train travel company TFC www.transferoviarcalatori.ro. So comfortable I felt I was there in no time though there is a 2 hour journey.
🟢 Wi Fi very good⭐⭐⭐ better than home
🟢 Clean ⭐⭐
🟢 Buy tickets in the train or online so no need to spend time at the ticket office.
🟢 No delays ⭐⭐⭐
For those of you who come to Bucharest for few days I definitely recommend this trip as an opportunity to visit a scenic salt mine and have a healthy salty bath at Baia Verde salty Lake near the salt mine.

For those of you arriving in Gara de Nord rail station in Bucharest this month for the football Euro 2020 you'll find the Info Point for Euro2020 at the end of platform 5 and 6.

One Day Train Trip
Bucharest to Slănic Salt Mine - Slănic Resort

Facts:
👉105 km railway journey from Bucharest to Slănic Salt Mine
👉Travel duration: 2h15-2h30 upon train choice
My choice was:
👉Departure Bucharest from Gara de Nord with CFR* INTER REGIO train at 7.07AM
👉Arrival in Ploiesti rail station at: 7.45 AM where I changed for the REGIO train 🚆 the local short distance rail operator TFC (a 10 minutes STOPOVER to change the lines)
👉Arrival in Slănic Resort at 9.23 AM
Slănic salt mine is 10 minutes walk from the train station.
👉The travel back journey to Bucharest is 2h32m duration
👉Left Slănic Resort with TFC REGIO TRAIN at 4.50 PM
👉Arrival in Bucharest at 7.24 PM.
The train back is straight line to Bucharest. No need to changeover at Ploiesti station.

Ticket prices:
👉Way ticket Bucharest-Slanic resort 25 RON= 5 EUROS
👉Return ticket Slanic-Bucharest 17 RON=3.50 EUROS
Roundtrip costs 8.50 EUROS

🚆The new CFR railway terminal at the Bucharest airport. It takes 20 min. to get from the airport to citycenter
🟢The train leaves every 20 minutes from Bucharest main rail station Gara de Nord to the Bucharest airport terminal Otopeni-Henri Coandă and back.
🟢It is working 24/7.

Two day Ski trip with in .
Six hours by train from Bucharest to Petroșani in Parâng Mountains.
The view from the train it's spectacular on Valea Jiului(Jiu River Valley) with tens of tunnels and aqueducts. It worths traveling during the day for the view but there is also a night train with sleeping cars.
