And now may be it's time to tell a little bit about myself😊
My name is Elisabeth. I'm russian. And I work as a tour guide in the best city in the world. And that's St. Petersburg of course.
When I was in a high school I was thinking between becoming an interpreter and a tour guide. At some moment I came up with the idea that it might get boring with translations after a while, which could never happen with guiding. Beautiful places, new people all the time, languages to master, seasonal job, which I actually consider as an advantage.
Now 6 years have passed since I graduated from a guiding school, and I haven't regretted a single moment of it.😁
I'm totally in love with this city and the job.
Guiding as a lifestyle💃

What if statues could talk?

Bronze Horseman:
"My arrival was not easy. One of the worst that could ever happen, actually. There was an accident in the process of foundry, a few people suffered and the bronze flew away and I had to stay without horse's head and upper tzar's body for a couple of years. I felt incomplete. Then things went much better, but I still miss my creator, Falconet, who was not even able to witness my unveiling, as he had had to leave the country for political reason. Now i'm absolutely fine, I have all parts of the body, and i really like that fence around me which doesn't let people come too close".

The biggest surprise for me in Peter and Paul Fortress was this museum. Despite all trainings and exams that i had done there I somehow missed out the information about its existence. But I've been following museums Instagram for a few months, admiring its collection and not realising that the happiness is so close 😆 (I'm in love with ceramics, porcelain, glass and all other fragile stuff, which can be easily broken💜), when all of a sudden I bumped into a sign saying "Keramarkh Museum of Architectural Ceramics" during one of my walks in the Fortress.
I just couldn't help going there and the visit was above all expectations.
If you are the same big fan of crockery or it's not your first visit to St. Petersburg and you are fed up with the tzars' tombs, that would be a nice alternative to spend your time😉

That's not the most popular monument in St Petersburg, but one of those which draw a lot of attention. I could spend hours looking at all the animals and trying to remember all the fables depicted on the base. Yeah, that's exactly the case when the base is more appealing than the monument itself.
On the pedestal you can see episodes from fables by prominent russian fabulist Krylov. The one in the picture is about Wolf and Crane. 🐺
Did the crane survive in this story? Share your thoughts in comments😉

This year l've got a little anniversary, even two! 10 years since I moved to St. Petersburg and 5 years since I started my guiding job. Two most significant events in my life! And now following the tradition to start something new every 5 years I start this page. Elizaveta Chernyadeva
