Umuganura, also known as "National Harvest Day," is a Rwandan cultural holiday that celebrates the country's agricultural heritage and bounty. It typically falls on the first Friday of August each year. It's a day to recognize the significance of agriculture in the nation's development and to honor the hard work of farmers who contribute to the country's prosperity. A momentous day is here with us, July 4 is Kwibohora, also known as Rwanda Liberation Day. A day that commemorates the defeat of the previous Habyarimana regime and the Rwandan Armed Forces by the Rwandan Patriotic Front in the Rwandan Civil War, thus ending the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda. The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page, let the adventure begin! Embark on an exciting journey as you leave the roads, take the trails through Africa's oldest park (Nyungwe National Park). Mt Bigugu trail ,7 km long entails transversing through the chimpanzee encroached park which seems like a daunting exercise. It usually takes 6 hrs in which you get glimpses of the panoramic views of the highest peak in the park, Mt Bigugu, Hills and mountains in neighboring country of DRC and an extension of Nyungwe Forest Park in Kabira National Park, Burundi. As you journey along for the bird lovers, they get the sight of the Red collared mountain babbler among others. Nature makes for the perfect backdrop regardless of the journey.

Leave the roads and take the trails! Get lost in nature as you trek through the dense rainforest hidden in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Isumo waterfall trail that covers a distance of 10.6 km with a duration of 4 to 5 hours to cover the whole terrain makes it a perfect blend of challenge and serenity. Beyond the formidable trail as you lead up into the climax is a hidden gem in the distant backdrop of the thick vegetation. Isumo waterfalls is an untapped treasure towering at a height of 25 meters with eye shots and echoes of water jetting from a narrow gorge into a whirlpool. An ultimate refuge to capture the flora and fauna that flourishes in this ecosystem such as Blue Turaco, wildflowers far and wide just to mention a few.
