The ‘WILDERNESS ADVENTURE’ and 'WILDERNESS EDUCATION' packages follow these principles and place clients at the centre of the experience, providing opportunities for amazing exposure to wilderness environments, and a chance to leave behind the stresses of normal daily life and to have a real adventure— whatev

er your age, ability or interest. The result is a unique and holistic experience which will leave you wanting more! Sweden Outdoors is owned and run by Matt Larsson-Clifford, who is a qualified teacher of Outdoor Education and who has been responsible for the safe delivery of Adventurous Training in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and in Local Education Authority Centre's for the last 20 years. Matt holds many high-level outdoor coaching qualifications, which can be viewed on his LinkedIn profile. Matt has successfully led RAF outdoor Centres’ through 5 National Licensing Agency inspections, receiving laudatory praise on each occasion. Matt was senior advisor to the RAF on all Adventurous Training matters and was responsible for the introduction and delivery of various wilderness adventure schemes in UK, Bavaria, Norway and Sweden. These schemes have benefitted over 12000 Servicemen and women to date. Matt relocated to Sweden to enjoy the unique wilderness environments, which through 'Allemansraten’ (everyman’s right) and ’Friluftsliv’ (open air living) he hopes to share with you.

We recently had the privilege of once again working with x2 Forces Wives Challenge (FWC) groups on the Hårkan river.

These expeditions were particularly exciting as it provided the stage to conduct academic research on behalf of both FWC and SOC regarding the expedition journey with an emphasis on identity, belonging and psychological safety. The research aims to provide insight into the mindset of female military spouses outwith the military setting.

It is very exciting to understand how outdoor challenges, like these, could contribute to resilience and may help inform the development of future programmes and expeditions that enhance the wellbeing of military spouses. This pilot study also has the potential to be adapted for other specific target groups and contexts.

Many thanks to FWC member Dr Ailsa Snaith and Dr Chris Kay, Senior Research Fellow at the Veteran and Families Institute at Anglia Ruskin University (Veterans & Families Institute for Military Social Research - ARU ) for setting up this academic collaboration.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the results and development of the project with future FWC Expeditions next year.
