The car will compete at Shell Eco Marathon in the Urban concept class at Rotterdam, Netherlands 15-19 of May. Baldos is the name of a car that is being developed and manufactured by nine mechanical engineering students at Luleå University of Technology in northen Sweden. We are developing Baldos III which is intended for participation in the Shell Eco-Marathon Europe, an annual contest to drive t
he longest possible distance on the least amount of fuel. Baldos I in 2008 did not only win the Urban Concept class by driving furthest on one litre of gasoline, but also the Combustion Engine prize, Climate-friendly Grand prize (least CO2 emissions), Alternative Gasoline Award, and last but not least the BOSCH Technical Innovation Award. The following couple of years between 2009 and 2012 Baldos II were developed. A road leagal car that became Sweden’s most fuel-efficient with the ability to run 223km/liter gasoline. With the fact it was the only road legal car in a competition full of cars built only with the purpose to win the race, it managed to claim the second place in the Urban Concept class and also the off track saftey award. While we are very pleased with last years result, we strive to perform even better this year.
