Hi friends!
We are in a safe spot in Marsden Cove Marina, at the entrance of Hatea River (and close to Whangarei where we have been a lot).
Everyone is waiting for Gabrielle, the next cyclone to sweep over us, coming tomorrow with a lot of rain. I took the chance to walk to the beach and see what is on the way.
Below you find my daily reflection - it is my creative play project I have been working on since June - one photo from the day + a short reflection. I publish every season on amazon.com in case you want to read more of my reflections and get some inspiration.
ATTRACTED BY THE EDGE
I just had to go look at the ocean today. Gabrielle is near the top of the North Island, and tomorrow she will be here with much more wind and heavy rain. At this point, it's still pretty calm, although the pressure and wind felt strong out there.
The beach is the edge where land meets water. This is the point where the wind meets resistance and a new element. She can blow up some sand, but can't blow through a mountain. She needs to take a turn. She must accept and find a new way to continue expressing her energy. An expert in finding flow!
For us humans, the edges are the points where we can expand and grow. How far, close, high or low, do we dare to go? In the well-known we are not confronted very often, we have cracked the codes. In the unknown, everything is new. We proceed more cautiously and test whether the stone across the small river is stable enough to be trusted as a springboard, or not. Or in a new meeting – we start cautiously, is this someone we would like to dance with, or not?
There is an idea about sailing life on blue water in light winds. In reality, it is only a fraction of sailing life. So much is about preparation, repairs, safety, security, shelter and weather – always about weather, all kinds. It is this energy we collaborate with. That's who we want to dance with as often as possible. Days like this are for rest until it's time again.
