Förra veckan hölls Global Sustainable Tourism Council - GSTC:s internationella konferens om hållbar turism i Stockholm.

✏️Där presenterades allt från arbetet med nya kriterier, EU:s olika lagförslag inom hållbarhet till goda exempel inom hållbarhetsarbete för olika attraktioner, mätning och uppföljning av turism, hur man arbetar hållbart med olika segment inom besöksnäringen och hur vi alla kan få gästerna att stanna längre.

💡 En av talarna var Lennart Pittja, som driver Sapmi Nature, ett Natures Best kvalitetsmärkt företag i Gällivare. Han talade om ansvarsfull förvaltning inom destinationer och gästupplevelse utifrån ett samiskt perspektiv.

💡I samband med en annan programpunkt som handlade om hur man kommunicerar hållbarhet och når ut, lyftes ett annat Natures Best-företag. Det var Dr. Emma Björner, Göteborgs universitet, som tog upp Camp Ripan AB, Kiruna, som ett gott exempel lyckad marknadsföring och kommunikation.

🌸 Naturturismföretagen, som är huvudman för Nature´s Best, är medlem i GSTC. Natures Best kvalitetsmärker svenska ekoturismföretag med en intern uppsättning standarder som är erkända av GSTC.

VisitSweden och Tillväxtverket var värdar för arrangemanget. Vi från Naturturismföretagen och Natures Best Sweden tackar för bra värdskap och en intressant och lärorik kongress.

Last week, the international conference of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) took place in Stockholm.

✏️ There, a range of topics was presented, spanning from the development of new criteria, various sustainability-related legislative proposals from the EU, to exemplary cases within sustainable practices for different attractions, tourism measurement and monitoring, sustainable practices across different segments of the tourism industry, and strategies for extending guest stays.

💡One of the speakers was Lennart Pittja, who runs Sapmi Nature, a Nature's Best certified company in Gällivare. He spoke about indigenous values and a Sami perspective on Destination Stewardship and guest experience.

💡During another session focusing on communicating sustainability and outreach, another Nature's Best-certified company was highlighted. Dr. Emma Björner from Gothenburg University showcased Camp Ripan in Kiruna as a successful example of marketing and communication.

🌸 Swedish Nature and Ecotourism Association (Naturturismföretagen), the organization behind Nature's Best Sweden, is a member of GSTC. Nature's Best certifies Swedish ecotourism companies according to internal standards recognized by GSTC.

The fifth season is here – have you experienced it? What´s the best with it from your point of view?

In north of Sweden the time when winter begins to turn into spring is often called “the fifth season”.

It begins in Mars/April when areas covered in snow ❄️gets plus degrees during daytime and minus during nighttime, and the light from the sun 🌞 is perceived as stronger when it is reflected against the snow.

For northerners it is an amazing sensation to get warm sunlight against the face, after the long, dark and cold winter. Lästips: Tidigare den här månaden publicerade Besöksliv ett reportage med det kvalitetsmärkta Nature's Best-företaget Glamping Höga Kusten

Flera av märkningens principer ringas in i reportaget, till exempel Gynna den lokala ekonomin och Bidra aktivt till natur- och kulturskydd.

"Det är jätteviktigt att jobba tillsammans med an­dra i området för att skapa en attraktiv besöksnäring och bevara både natur och kultur".

REPORTAGE. Nicole och Marco Pieren sålde allt de ägde och flyttade från Nederländerna till Sverige för att följa sin dröm. I dag driver de Glamping Höga Kusten som lockar naturälskare från hela världen.
