Starbreeze enters licensing agreement with PopReach for PAYDAY Crime War.

“It’s an exciting time for all of us at Starbreeze, during the last month we’ve changed the trajectory for the company by securing deals around the PAYDAY IP. We look forward to working with PopReach to ensure that PAYDAY Crime War brings the same action-packed gameplay our players and community already know and love to mobile devices. PopReach has a proven track record and has successfully developed and launched free-to-play mobile titles based on well-known IP:s, and our collaboration will be an important component of our strategy to further expand the PAYDAY franchise”, said Tobias Sjögren, CEO of Starbreeze.

Following the license agreement, PopReach will be responsible for the continued development of PAYDAY Crime War as well as the marketing, live operations and user acquisition efforts. PopReach expects to soft launch a beta version by the end of 2021. Development of the game will be led by Vlad Ceraldi, PopReach’s SVP Worldwide Studios.

Today we announce that Starbreeze enters a co-publishing agreement with Koch Media for 2023 PAYDAY 3 launch on PC and consoles.

Starbreeze (“Starbreeze”) today announced a global co-publishing deal with the leading European publishing partner Koch Media GmbH (“Koch Media”), for the highly anticipated PAYDAY 3. The agreement provides for an estimated total investment exceeding 50 MEUR for both development and marketing of PAYDAY 3 including more than 18 months of post-launch “Games as a service”, meaning continuous development, release of new content and marketing. With the co-publishing deal, the PAYDAY 3 project is fully financed. PAYDAY 3 is expected to launch during 2023.

Swedish business daily Dagens Industri recently featured an interview with Starbreeze acting CEO Tobias Sjögren. The article states that the reconstruction was finished and Tobias reports that everyone is happy to be focusing on making games and keen on proving it to the market.

“PAYDAY is the key focus for the company, one of the first real games-as-a-service products on the market. Starbreeze was an early pioneer of the business model and we will be developing it in the future and keeping the lead with coming releases.
